The M16A1 was the first to be a new symbol of the American serviceman. Lightweight, nimble and fired the new 5.56 caliber cartridge in the 1960's. Nowadays, there are many competitors who use the derivations of the M16A1 as a competition rifle, but exactly how was this firearm when compared to the M14 on the distance course? We clock this Brownells reproduction of the old Colt M16A1 to find out.
The M16A1 was designed as a 300m weapon with limited adjustments on the standard L-sights. We discovered later that the L-sights indeed to not provide any elevation adjustment.
Ammunition used: IMI XM193 55grain 5.56x45mm NATO
