I also bought this poker set - not sure that I will need it but if there is an opportunity to have more than just one model in front of the camera, it will help to create a situation, where you don't need to guide the models what to do and how to pose. Playing cards makes it easier, as the models will understand what they are supposed to do during the shooting, you will get some movement and hopefully a nice shooting atmosphere. Also, it will be easy to change perspective, distance and also get some detail shots. 

So my way to shoot with a group of models is to create a situation like this and then let the models act - 

Of course, you could also use a typical pool situation for such shooting, but if there are other photographers at the shooting event, I bet there is at least one guy, doing exactly this.
