I first watched the animation movie "Rise of the Guardians" in 2018, before that I had not even heard of it, even though it was released in 2012. Generally, I loved that movie, although there are many shortcomings and some errors. The characters are cute, but personally I was not particularly impressed, except for the Pitch Black, he can't leave on the onlooker indifferent. Next to him, all the other characters fade, no matter how bright and sweet they were. The Pitch is an evil spirit and antagonist of the movie, but he is very interesting, charismatic and unusual, he such elegant, graceful, flexible, he is like a shadow elusive and weightless, and this black "living" long robe woven from darkness, his weird and original features - everything speaks of his supernatural origin. His manner of holding on and the hypnotizing velvet voice is a special.

Many compare him to Loki, and indeed, they have much in common. Both are misunderstood, both are lonely, envious, jealous, they want be believed and to get attention from their peers, and as a result, they find this attention only through the capture of power, but those around them perceive them only as evil, which must be immediately eliminated.

There are scenes in  "Rise of the Guardians" when the Pitch tries to talk peacefully with the main character Jack Frost or the Sandman, even offers friendship to the first, but he is roughly rejected, and the Sandman aggressively attacks him every time, although logically, noble warriors should never attack first, especially if they are good characters, remember "Kung Fu Panda", where the main character Po never attacked the enemy first, and until the last moment he tried to understand them, convince and even help them.

Certainly, the Pitch is harmful, ruthless, sarcastic, cruel, even some depraved-sadistic, he is possessed by the desire of power, he wants to envelop the world of dreams into darkness and fear (he himself is darkness and fear, the lord of nightmares, this is his nature, he can not otherwise), but on the other hand, he is more likely just bad, misunderstood and offended by the whole world, and not the embodiment of absolute evil and the brainless murder machine (the only one he killed was the Sandman, and in open battle, when "yellow chubby" himself attacked Pitch and brutally beats him in the manner of the Hulk).

The "happy end" of the movie not very pleased me, too stereotypical and stupid, I would like to see the team of "superheroes" still reconciled with the antagonist and divided spheres of influence. Let the Pitch send nightmares and fears only to bad children, and let the good ones not touch. But given that there are more bad and harmful children in the world, then the Pitch will have a place to turn around. What is not a profitable transaction? :)
