Question of the day: When did you become ARMY?

It feels so good to be back familia! We have been dying to watch BTS docuseries with you!! 🙌

Already, the first two episodes have us hooked, reminding us why BTS is such an inspiration to us. Their strength and unity, particularly through the challenging 'Danger' era, is truly inspiring. We’ve read from familia how hard the Danger era was for BTS, so we enjoyed listening to BTS's perspectives during those times. It gives us an even deeper appreciation for the support and protection Army provided during those tough moments.

We are already so grateful for this docuseries because it’s deepening our understanding for both BTS and ARMY and we can’t wait to watch more with you. 💜

i had heard of bts back in 2014/2015 on twitter but didn't actually listen to their music and become army until mid 2018. i also bought tickets for map of the soul in dallas and it would have been my first bts concert, unfortunately i have yet to see them in concert :(

Spring of 2021. Butter was my first comeback with them

I became an Army in December, 2015, during Run era. Except I didn't know it was Run era or what a comeback was! I fell down the Bts rabbit hole HARD. I think it took three weeks of obsessively watching their videos. I don't know when exactly I went from casual fan to Army - it was more like the moment I met them, I knew there was something different about them and I needed to watch everything they have ever done. Now it's been eight years - until infinity, until apobangpo. There is no other way or life for me. Just Bts and Armys Forever.

QOTD: I became Army in 2020 after an old friend of my mine was into BTS in 2019 during Boy In Luv era. I knew about BTS since 2019 but didn’t get into them until 2020 during quarantine. They went a big source of happiness for me during that time. I have been getting into different groups and even thought I don’t watch BTS content everyday I still listen to their music/MV’s and watch some of there interviews. I just want to thank them for everything they did for me since 2020 to now. I will still support them and still listen to there music. I will always love them. it’s just there not my main group anymore

When Bts got nominated for TSA with the BBMAs, Armys immediately bought tickets to attend. We didn't even know if they would be there or if they would win, but if there was a chance of attending, we wanted to support. USA media was shocked by our loyalty and support ... but like, other fans could have bought tickets, too? Every year, Western fandoms could buy tickets en masse and show up to support their faves ... but they don't. BTS and Armys are very unique, even in Western culture: Armys ALWAYS show up for BTS. We move different from other fandoms. We are not just bots or loud online, but always show up in person. We always support.

I would definitely say the book is worth it. Because you’ve been army for a while there will be a lot you already know but hearing it in their own words is so interesting (and sometimes devastating)

moniq tesalonika

just finished watch your live on twitch and now i'm here to watch the docuseries with you! :) i became an army in sept 1st 2019 (on jk's birthday) hehe

Courtney_Sky (The Tortured Poets Department April 19th)

Imma have to watch this later cause I'm so tired coming off of the twitch live, it's already morning now. But i'll answer QOTD: 2017, sometime in between October/November. I'm kinda annoyed I never wrote down the actually day cause I'd love to have my own ARMY anniversary like others do. But anyway, see you when I've come back to life...🧚🏻‍♀️😂💜

I would definitely recommend reading the book even if it's on your own time. You'll get to hear the members' thoughts on things directly from them, some new anecdotes, but there's also some context provided throughout with extra background on the kpop industry as a whole that I know you mentioned you're both still just starting to learn about. So it'll definitely be enlightening. You also caught onto this in your reaction here, but they had a lot of ups and downs back to back and they go into more detail about this in the book.

one technical question. I watch this now for the first time with you. Is that camera sound in the background from the docu itself or is your camera doing that? It confused me a little bit haha edit: okay I think that is your camera since it is also there when you talk and you stop the video. It isn't really loud but maybe check if your camera is all good. It reminds me of that sound when a camera is trying to focus but can't (even though your video is always in focus)..hard to explain. Just wanted to mention it incase something is wrong with your camera you are not aware of :)

Thank you for this, familia! My response to your question about the book. It's not perfect, but it's beautiful. the author was able to capture the essence of BTS and their journey. the only flaw of the book is that it wasn't pristinely edited and that the product description said "unseen footages" but then I've seen them already. So in terms of videos, I'd say that they are unseen footages for the new armys but they have already been released before, so there were mixed reviews of the book because of that.

I became Army March 2017, right before they broke out of the US. So its been 7 years, its so crazy to think about. Discovering them was such a memorable and special time for me. It was Spring Day era so that era holds a special place in my heart... Like most armys, I found bts when i needed them the most, and they have been by my side ever since. Cant wait for the many more years to come. Just a few comments on the docu-series. I absolutely love it so far. It reminds me again how much bts is different from every other artist out there, their hardships were translated into their music. Every album/era they have had is part of their story and what they were going through at that time. From Danger, i Need U, Fake Love, BE, Dynamite etc. Their discography is absolutely amazing. Its a whole story put into words and melodies. BTS' musical history never seizes to amaze me. It reminds me of a fictional book sometimes, there's just so much depth and beauty in it... them meeting was really destiny.

so good to have you guys back !! watching this again with you and ugh... all these emotions. i've read the book and i would say as army there isn't that much new information, but it's still so interesting to read things from their own words and to read their journey as chronical as it is in the book and even watch all the old videos with the QR codes again was a ride !!! i would definitely recommend to read the book. and i became an army in 2020 during the pandemic and i discovered them also at a very hard time for me so... i'm just so beyond grateful (truly have no words) how much they mean to me. 💜

veenak

omg same here!!! I also became army in early 2017 right before they blew up from BBMAs!!! it was so amazing and inspiring watching them grow and us grow with them! so damn proud !!

Watched the series "HYBE & T&D Stories" on their official youtube channel, these 2 series just showed us so much that not just the members but it's Bang PD, all the different teams worked so hard to make sure the boys get on the right path musically, physically, mentally. So much respect to Bang PD's mindset which is so different from a lot of the commercial focused agency. He really puts the artists first & he believes in his team. ARMY knew BTS are authentic but this documentary just added another level to it. They might chose to not directly tell ARMY the whole story but they never hide anything from us but & they just waited for the right moment to tell, that's all. We've seen they did that time after time being so honest to us & hence we trust them & willing to walk the journey with them. This is why we are different & special

Hi Familia! I literally had to finish watching BTS Monuments ep 1 to 4 before jumping into your reactions.. and.. my..oh my.. I missed them a lot.. like a lot lot.. and I know you, and our Familias/ARMYs feel the same. Question of the day: When did you become ARMY? - June of 2022 hehe but I heard of them since 2017 during DNA. I'm always thinking that I became an ARMY so late.. but.. I think.. and I believe as time passes.. I became an ARMY just at the right time...😊💜

crescent

finally watched your reactions and I loved how absorbed you guys were into this. really felt like I was watching myself haha. It was so heartbreaking seeing all this unreleased footage of their early years fresh into their debut and danger era... This is why I will always defend them when people say they don't deserve to get to where they are now. They earned every ounce of fame and success. Not only that but the fact that they considered quitting so many times bc of all this uncharted territory...like god I could write a whole essay.

crescent

can't wait to watch episodes 3 and 4 on Sunday with yall!!

Nele

just watched your reaction to suchwita on twitch !! thank you for letting it stay online there... i probably will never catch it live, because it's always at night or around early morning for me, but i just love the whole energy in these twitch lives SO much. also get well soon marisol :( !!!💜

laura

Truly feel so lucky and blessed to have discovered them at that time. We really witnessed them pave the way and grow as a group.💜

I became ARMY in 2021. Dynamite was the 1st song I listened to.

what's crazy is that watching bts' sincerity towards their much smaller fanbase 10 yrs ago vs their insanely huge one now... nothing about the way they feel for us has changed. if anything they treasure us even more now, they never once took us for granted
