Hello familia 👋 hope you’re having an awesome day/night so far! 💜

Today we are throwing it back to 2015 with BTS. They attended a Live Music Request show called After Skool Club where BTS and OG Army’s around the world got to meet LIVE through hangout videos and online comments.

BTS was so young and chaotic! 🤣

After Skool Club has been requested to us for years now. Thank you to our familia who have been so patient. 💜

We learned that BTS attended this show together six times and we’ll be watching their last time there ep. 191 “Special Christmas episode.”

niki

Excited to watch! Ps: i hope u can watch namjoon recent vlive at some point!! it was comforting!

Seneca

Haha I've never seen these before fully!! Excited to watch with you guys! 🤣 Also fun fact– whenever the guys say "how are you? I'm fine, thank you, and you?"– it's actually a funny inside joke because that's the textbook phrase taught in Asian countries, but they jokingly know it sounds kind of awkward to native english speakers. I can't count how many times the guys have said "i'm fine thank you and you" even to this day– there should be compilations made 😂

Hi Familia! New Content Yey!!! 💜 ARMYs are booked and busy again, we have a new song from JK, then a Diary/Docu from Jimin. Please also watch RM's recent live, it was sooooo good & comforting as expected from one of my Mental Health Carers & Life Advisor 🥹💖 Question of the day: Have you ever watched any BTS episodes of After Skool Club? If you have, which one is your favorite? - Suprisingly I haven't watched any of them yet 😅 I might need to now hehe

Hello familia!! I hope your week has been good so far!! This reaction was a bit of surprise I thought we would start from their first episode as freshly debuted bangtan but this Christmas episode is just as fun!! I agree that the episodes are a little difficult to follow bc (I think) it was live translated so it was hard to keep up real time. But I just enjoyed it nonetheless :) I just wanted to add also that I don’t know jimin (the host) that well so I don’t want to assume anything it could just be her personality that may come off as sarcastic. Eric and the boys have been pretty close back then and he’s always supporting them and their music. I think he recently performed Seven in one of his concerts actually. My favorite part of ASC is watching armys interact with bts its so wholesome. The I NEED U and RUN dances were so chaotic I love them so much.

How are we feeling about Jimin's Face Production Documentary coming out soon familia?? I prayed for jimin to give us more insight into his FACE journey and thought process bc that era was fr so short. I'm so excited for this documentary. AND jungkooks collab coming out as well!! He's giving us so much music like he's been working so hard and all this is BEFORE his album is out and not to mention he's performing a whole CONCERT for armys in November 😭 There's so much for us. AND TAES FANMEETING ON THE 14TH. I hope he has a blast and ARMYs sing along very loudly for him.

I agree!! Namjoon lives are always a source of comfort.

You know, I don't know anything about Jimin outside of these shows but I don't particularly like her vibe. Like she came off really dismissive. Like she thought Bangtan (j-hope esp) was kind of cringe. Maybe cynical is the right word? And I actually love Eric. He's been really respectful to BTS and is still to this day. But his energy as a host too is a little careless in this series. He hosts a lot now and I like him better. But it must be hard to do a show in two different languages like that. I love the Bangtan of these shows and the fact they got to meet so many ARMYs through it. Like you said, it's a great concept. I just think the hosts didn't have a ton of chemistry. I always thought it was, in part, because BTS were such a departure from idol groups of that era and before. They were less filtered and more confident and their energy was bigger and more chaotic. Maybe it threw hosts off their rhythm a little. Idk. I'm glad you're watching them though! Lots of classic BTS content there.

I think the show’s just awkward bc it’s live & cringey but not bc the hosts suck maliciously lol. They were really cool w BTS, especially Eric was pretty close w them & back then they didn’t get to go on shows much so I’m sure they liked the show & the hosts if they continued to go on it

Paola Lopez

Love both the hosts they just sarcastic humans and that’s fine they usually joke around like that

Bri⁷

Omg yasss I’m super excited for Jimin’s documentary😭🙌🏽 FINALLY GONNA WITNESS THE BRILLIANCE behind his first artistic self written masterpiece solo album that he put his entire heart, soul, and being into. I can’t wait to get more in depth, see his thoughts, and work process!!💜

laura

I second this, his lives are always so healing for me

niki

Eric and the boys are close! There’s been a few cute interactions between them, like eric going to the wembley show, he said that bts help him with his music, and that he’s close with yoongi in particular!! Jamie’s personality can be a hit or miss with some people from what i’ve seen. She’s pretty sarcastic i think. I don’t think there’s been any interactions between them lately compared to Eric and bts, but yeah I think it’s just her personality.

QOTD: I watched all the episodes cuz I was army at the time and it was one of the best variety shows BTS was on!! My favorite is probably the one they did during the Skool Luv Affair album.💜 The MCs' sarcasm, especially Jimin's, was their charm and comedy style. Eric Nam always supported BTS and loved them, especially during that early era when some MCs and celebrities used to mistreat them. Also I loved BTS on it, all the energy and hype was always so endearing to watch! Can't help but love them!💜💜💜

Amy Evans

I don't know a lot about Jimin, but I have seen her on some other shows produced by Eric, as they are pretty close friends to this day. I am pretty sure she has a very sarcastic and dry personality and humour. If you're not used to it, I can see why it can come across as cynical, but it's not exclusive to her interactions with BTS and was kind of marketed as her thing, I believe.

QOTD: My fave BTS After School Club episode would be ep.158. After an 8-month hiatus, BTS released their new album, ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt. 1’💜

I've watched her a few times in various shows and it's definitely her personality. I actually find it hilarious add more fun to the show. A lot of Koreans like her cynical, outspoken character and think it's her charm, bc she breaks the stereotype of "how female celebs should be" : kind, friendly, smiley, accommodating, and less conspicuous. Actually their very casual, naughty, tongue-in-cheek style of hosting in this series was well-received among the fandoms, cuz it shook off their idol's nerves and made them feel comfortable rather than being formal and rigid. It was the charm of the show. Yes, BTS WERE very chaotic and unfiltered back then, but that was only when they were just among themselves (like on V lives and Run BTS). When appearing on the external TV shows, They were extremely tensed and being awkward much more than how they handle them now. But here, they could bring out their usual selves unlike the other shows. You can see the members also tease her. On other shows, You'll never see the members tease the "first meeting female cast" like they did on here. This shows how comfortable they were with them. I remember ASC was the only external show that all members would being themselves back then. (especially JK. He was so shy and quiet in most of the external shootings, and just look at him here😂 he's completely being himself.) There is also cultural difference. Koreans tend to think being blunt/getting rough with someone is a measure of intimacy. You see the BTS members constantly dissing and provoking each other so much that some i-fans find several remarks/acts disrespectful. But it's completely normal for Koreans and we think it's the proof that they're BFFs. It's slightly different from simply being rude. We know how distinguish them but I think it's kinda natural for foreigners to misunderstand it. Accordingly, her way of treating new guests relentlessly as if they were old friends is both her personality and her sign of intimacy to the new guests. I can see that the members genuinely love her dry reactions and have fun with it, so you don't have to worry. There's just nothing wrong with it for Koreans😉👍🏻 Hope this explanation helps you understand her and also Eric Nam in this series! It was the style of the show. The show was loved for that reason. (sorry for my english it's not my first language TT)

Okay I can’t remember the episode numbers that I have watched. I ran into after school club because of Bts compilations that had many clips from the episode. So I’ll pick my favorite moments: I like jhope and jimin dancing hip hop in one of the episodes in 2013 like I think it was their first ever appearance on ASC; that episode is really funny and entertaining😂 I also like when rm, jimin and jungkook were on the show and they had to guess what was rm’s favorite thing in a girl. They are always so chaotic on this show, I think this episode you guys watched is one of their most chill💀😍 Anyway love you guys reaction!

az

wow you guys complained a lot about the hosts' awkwardness, the background music..lol, I personally like the vibe of the show, and Jimin's personality is unique and different from what we're used to see on variety shows, she's obviously sarcastic. I don't think bangtan was uncomfortable and it's all that matters. I think they did a really good job running an interview both in English & Korean, and it was more pleasing to not have to read the captions. Also as it's called 'after skool club' i'm sure younger people were the target audience, that's probably why you felt uncomfortable watching it. anyway, thanks for finally reacting to this show though! love x ps: I'm sure Eric didn't make fun of the army trying to speak korean, eric have always been respectful to bts and as a host overall, plus coming from a place where you guys (and I include myself) always laugh at bts poor english, it wouldn't be fair. sorry I just got triggered by all your little comments but at the end of the day you guys have your own opinion ofc

az

oh yes! maybe they should've watched the first episode first

Nele

so much is happening right now, we're just booked and busy !! love it 💜

Nele

that was so much fun !! i always just have watched various clips of all the times they were on this show and never the full episodes.. so this was a lot of fun - would be so here if we would watch the other ones also together starting from the first one 💜

Shamya Mckoy

I would just like to say the boys and Eric and Jamie are pretty cool friends the awkwardness is kinda the vibe of the show 🤣 and that’s just Jamie she has very dry humor

Shamya Mckoy

FUN FACT I ACTUALLY JUST went to Eric’s concert last weekend in Raleigh IT WAS AMAZING I LOVE HIM ❤️

MexineseFamily

Hello thanks for sharing your perspective and for having patience with our comments. We could see how we may have misinterpreted the dynamic of the hosts. We didn’t have any previous context on their relationship with BTS and we just jumped right into their latest episode on the show. i guess jimin (the girl host) just seemed sarcastic but we appreciate you sharing your opinion familia 💜 we don't ever mean to trigger you

MexineseFamily

thank you for your comment familia 💜 we initially wanted to watch and start After Skool Club from the first episode but we could not find any English subs anywhere! if you happen to know a website or have a link please share! also we'll keep what you said in mind moving forward :)

This was one of the first things I saw of BTS when I was a baby Army!! I joined in December of 2015 during Run era. I didn't understand it was Run era, what a comeback was, what promotions were ... I was just enjoying all of the content on youtube. I watched that After School Club episode sooo much and it was one of the reasons I absolutely fell in love with BTS.

az

it's okay! thanks for taking our perspective in consideration, I'm still grateful you guys reacted to it x borahae 💜

Guys Eric was very close to bts and he was one of the few people who actually was really respectful towards them and he’s a close friend to rm too and they have been on the show multiple times before so the hosts were just being playful and I get it you may have a bit of prejudice since you saw many content which refereed to bts mistreatment but this show was not one of them I have even seen eric talk about how he literally saw bts grow as artists and when bts came on this show it was always soo busy cause they were just soo famous that the show’s social media would be flooded , also he was asking the girl to try it not to make fun but that was her question “can you teach me some satori” so he made her try to repeat it after jungkook and also he’s just being playful with his expressions there’s no ill intent behind it just like how jhope always makes faces while talking in his English interviews anyways just wanted to clarify it ! And at the end They were trying to rush it cause it was being aired live and they had a time crunch for the show !💜💜also I’m trying not trying to hate or be mean but to me it seems that Marisol whenever seems new k artists whether in shows or interviews is so much more critical of their personalities and I understand that knowing bts history but try not to nitpick things and look for something bad cause when you do that you’ll always find something wrong just try to be a bit more open minded in judging other’s personalities cause it’s a bit unpleasant to watch and again just a bit criticism for your own growth not trying be mean
