August 2020 - W.I.P Update (Patreon)

It's been another month of just getting as much KH done as possible so a little light on silly side projects this month. Had the Splatoon pic come out which quickly became the best performing thing I'd done. Just goes to show what a few retweets from the right people can do. Also got something out with Aerith, although i wasn't very happy with it. Shes going to get some more attention at a later date but Jessie came out first so she's going to get animated first (during the KH break when the current one is finished). Haven't had a chance to do anything with Sheeva yet, but she'll likely get some simple pics soon.

Kingdom Hearts Update

How's the KH film coming? Well we've finished the fuck machines scene. As usual it turned out to be more complicated than I expected, but it's come out very nicely and I'm very happy with most of it. There is still one shot that I feel is a little boring, but that's by means dragging the rest of it down. It just irks me.

The final rope bondage scene is getting close to 50%. At the moment the girls are getting 5 scenes each & Kairi's first 4 are very nearly done. Got most of the principle animation finished & we're doing faces & hair (although not much hair because I've been very good with keeping pace with the hair animation). Also got the first few Namine shots posed & ready to go but I'm doing them one at a time this time because this is the biggest scene of all & they are doing quite different things to each other in this one so I want to focus on them separately.

Core animation should be done by the end of the month. Due to the size of thing (we're on pace for about 8 minutes) I'm going to have the MasterDan intro on the start & animate a specific introduction with title card as well. The title will be:

And I'm going to add full sound & soundtrack as well. I wasn't planning on it being so big when I started so I haven't animated with any specific audio in mind so I'm going to try & dub it in in post this time. The focus is never really on their faces & there really aren't many closeups so I think I can get away with it. This will of course take time but I can start with the dubbing right away with what I've already rendered & hopefully get it out before the end of the month, but it'll take as long as needed to get it right.

However, on the subject of what I've already rendered I'm going to release a rough cut of the first three scenes in the next few days. It wont be full quality, no sound, no intros but you'll get an advance look at the whole first half. Normally rough cuts would be at $10 tier but I'm going to put this one out at $5 because it's not an Official Featured Animation so I think it'll be ok.

As previously mention, all other animation projects are on pause until this monster KH project is done so no updates on any other animation projects at this time.

And now that I'm done talking about all that silly Kingdom Hearts stuff that none of you actually care about, we can get to the REAL update. Chapter 5 is very nearly done, next release will be the final one for the chapter & is probably only a week or so away so you wont have to wait very long.

Gizzi talking with the guards was the first thing that needed to happen so we can foreshadow that there is a witch living in the woods & that she has a spooky cottage. She's going to make an appearance in the next Gizzi chapter so I wanted there to have been some mention of her before that happens. We also setup the presence of a magic gremlin living in the well & that Wyn has an issue with witches. This will all be important later.

Next current section I'm working on introduces some D tier bully characters who hassle Gizzi. They have a very small role to play in the next book but I only have two opportunities to introduce them before they do their thing & this is the first one. We don't spend as much time with Gizzi in Book 1 & I didn't want to just add pointless chapters in just to introduce minor characters so Gizzi tends to conveniently bump into people just in time for them to say something important. It's a small village after all.

And that was August. Produced some really nice looking stuff this month. Took a while, but every second has been worth it so far. Even those seconds spent doing things a second time when they weren't good enough. Didn;t quite get two whole Scenes done, but the final Scene is twice the length of the others so getting it nearly half done is close to being on target.
