It is known Oda cried in the middle of drawing Merry's Viking funeral. One of his methods is imitating the faces/emotions he aims to convey in the moment, but I think this one's a case of genuine grief. And since you cried like most of us, as per the rules of One Piece, the fandom officially recognizes your graduation as of that iconic milestone moment to "TRUE One Piece Fan." I did not just make that up on the spot. 🤥 This chapter (430) is estimated to be at a third into the canon story if One Piece lasts another 5 years, and I think this funeral also intentionally symbolizes the death of some of the story's innocence.
