Heya o/ Couple of things: Keep in mind that the Pirate King event was only 20~something years ago, the Giants have been there for 50 years, so the Gouvernment was not above lying before "the great pirate era". Also you asked about what happens if you only eat a bite of the devils fruit, Oda has specified that the second the first bite hits your stomach, you get the abilities, and the rest of the fruit becomes just a fruit. So if two people tried to take a bit at the same moment, still only whoever gets the food in the stomach first gets the power

Great clarification on the Pirate King thing - turns out the Marines weren't lying out of desperation then - they're just tools, hahaha. Re: Devil's Fruit - Okay, okay, interesting. Then my main question is why tf are these characters even eating it all? I guess they probably don't know that they only have to have one bite, it's just funny that it's well established that they taste bad and yet motherfuckers are cleaning their plate.
