G-8 arc was originally scripted as an entire movie. For reasons it was scratched so it got reworked as a filler arc. Lt Cmdr Drake mentioned he saw the ship twice before because he was the same Marine you saw chasing the crew in Movie 4: Dead End Adventure. On top of that, in Movie 4 where they were tricked towards a Navy base...that was this same base, Navarone.
