I don't it's just that he feels he's not doing his part in helping Nami. While that is still part of it, I think it's also because he realized in that moment that he was still just playing pirate. His dream is a lot simpler than the rest of the crew's but equally as hard for him personally, and that's to be a brave warrior of the sea. But there he was playing more tricks and telling more lies to make himself out to be more than he was, while his friends were fighting with the true pirate's resolve to put their lives on the line. And as he saw it, there's no bravery in that. Like he said, it would be shameful of him.
