Content

As you guys may know, I really like to make long videos. A lot of my earlier work was pretty short, very concise, cut right to the point. I meander a lot more now in my script-writing process, and I often write scripts that are around 40 minutes long. I know people like that, it's more bang for your buck as it were, but I can probably only do a video a month that's that length, leading to some months where I get just that done, a video a month, and that has killed my numbers on the site. There are a few ideas, like MINIMUM! which I plan to help pad the videos out while still providing content on a regular basis, but in order to try and get the total number of videos a month up a bit, some videos will have to be shorter, some shorter than 10 minutes. That's what the youtube algorithm wants, and that's what it's gonna get, I suppose. I'm just finishing a video on the .200 patch of Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare, that is almost strictly informative: very little humor, probably little editing, just a short-form post. I don't know how I feel about this kind of content, it's not stuff that I'm probably going to go back and watch again myself, because it's maybe not stuff that I feel is pushing my creative boundaries. I really enjoyed doing videos like the Tarkov review, with the several animations in the beginning, that's something I've gone back to watch again and again because I'm proud of it. I still like talking about some of these games, but I feel in some cases that I'm doing content just to do content, and I don't like that.

I also don't like charging for it, and while some months I feel like I "need" to charge for videos in order to  get bills paid, down that road lies a path I don't particularly want to trod on. I will probably avoid charging patrons for these shorter form videos on the whole, unless I feel like it took particular effort to make.

I also want to figure out a way to get Patrons more involved with the channel that won't require a daily input by yours truly, since I don't really have the ability to update Patreon or do a stream every day after work. I suppose it's all about balance, and sometimes I fall off. In any case, I hope you enjoyed this ramble, bit of a diary post to be honest, and for sure reach out to me on Discord or here if you want to see something changed.
