I just finished watching the second season of Wolf Like Me, and I absolutely cannot get enough of this show. Not only because Isla Fisher has -always- been my inspiration for my character Autumn, and in this series she's a werewolf! But because the story is hilarious, endearing, romantic, witty, human, and with just the right mix of wholesome and horrifying with all the good werewolf trappings. If you haven't watched it yet and love werewolves, please go watch it now on Peacock!

But I have issues. Specifically with the werewolf design (not that Hollywood has ever done us werewolf fans any favors IMHO 9.9)

I mean, I guess I get what they were trying to do, which is what a lot of Hollywood werewolf designs have tried to do. Blend that human face with some aspects of a wolf face. Yet it always ends up looking like a weird monkey-rat-bear-thing.

So I was noodling around in Procreate last night and tried my hand at doing a blend of human and my usual werewolf face, keeping with the more human eyes, nose, and bare ears. No matter what I tried, it just looks... stupid. To me. (tiddies are for LOL factor since the werewolf in Wolf Like Me has them. Which is actually pretty awesome).

I'm just not a fan of this look, even though it makes a bit of sense for a creature that is a blend of wolf and human to have some human features on the face. But I hates it. I've never seen a blend like this that I like, and I certainly can't figure it out for myself. It just ain't right.

Can Hollywood just do a werewolf with an actual wolf face? Wolves can be pretty terrifying as they are, so why can't a werewolf be scary and pretty at the same time?

What are your thoughts? Do you prefer the "scary" Hollywood werewolves we've all seen? Or do you prefer the more wolfy looking werewolves? Or is any werewolf a good werewolf, because werewolves?

I prefer the more wolfy-looking werewolves, as some of those seen in the 1984 movie The Company Of Wolves.

I was JUST going to say Van Helsing. I mean, the werewolves in Twilight looked pretty good to me, (but am reluctant to bring up such an otherwise dismal movie). 'Wolfy' werewolves are the best. Totally agree.
