Marten has seen some shit.

Yay's face in panel 1 reminds me of Jonathan, the opthalmologist's loyal scribe, when unhappy.

Another Dr. Glaucomflecken fan! :D I wait for his updates almost as "patiently" as I wait for Jeph's ...

Which specialty do you resemble the most? I think Family Medecine for me...

Marten had two ways to cope with his odd life: chill or debilitating anxiety. I'm glad chill prevailed.

It's almost as if when you suffer from webcomic protagonist syndrome you get phased by fewer and fewer things

Yay in panel 1 reminds me of Sweetie Bot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5bubWyRwoA

Martin's ability to be the nexus of all these characters with maximum chill is what's held the comic together all these years. I've sometimes wondered how an "everyman" character with no major plot threads centred on him can work as the central character (less so these days) but it's his chill and empathy that holds it all together.

I’m in my 30’s now, and have been reading this comic since early middle school. Marten has been a guiding light of positive masculinity for me, and I cannot accurately describe how precious this story has been.

David

In my fifties here. Kind of the same, brah. I still aspire to that level of chill.

I just remembered, this whole origin story started with Yay's will-they-won't-they getting jealous over Clinton and Elliott and kicking Yay out for the night. I kind of wish I could hear Yay's side of that whole incident now.

Maybe Martin is a robot and doesn't even know he is.

That is some extreme Yay-pout in the first frame.
