JD

Exactly what I was saying yesterday. Glad she came to that conclusion

Anonymous

I love this so much

gatherer818

In my experience with the bureaucracy, Roko's combative mindset probably would have served her better....

Michael Boettger

Guess Beeps is more insightful than many of us ever thoughts. Good for her.

Anonymous

Yup. Roko learns her lesson. As expected.

Anonymous

It me.

Yonatan Zunger

I think Roko may be giving Bubbles a run for her money as my favorite character.

Anonymous

Beeps continues to be adorable.

Thisguy

Called it. Sort of. Well I was thinking it anyway.

Anonymous

"I thought I was being sarcastic." LOL

Anonymous

I like Beeps

Jennifer Doyle

I'VE DONE THIS. 🤦‍♀️

Joel Bateman

Why are your robots so cute?

Jim Feldman

I'm still thinking they end up finding out they're up against a glorified PERL script.

Bill Hall

Wellll, sheeit ...

z

No, she'd doing her due diligence assessment on someone that is working with one of her clients. If she hadn't been completely checking things out, Roko should be fired (out of a cannon) for NOT doing her job. Especially with someone that has trust issues and body form issues.

Leona

Beeps is the bomb

Anonymous

Frankly, I think her cop training would come in handy when dealing with bureaucracy.

Sleepy John

Has Beep and the rest of the office offered her training in any other way to operate? You go with what you know how to do.

Anonymous

Well, now we know that the QC universe is a dystopia; advanced robot AIs still have to deal with faxes.

Ami

QC isn't ideal if Fax machines still exist. ARGHAGRHGRAHSGRIY#GRIQUGIQUWIQUE!)@)!*@EHh

Ami

I DO NOT LIKE FAX MACHINES AND AGENCIES THAT INSIST ON FAXES

SpookyPenguin

i like big fax and i cannot lie you other printers can't deny

Anonymous

And how do you feel about thinking they end up finding out they're up against a glorified PERL script?

awgiedawgie

And I thought BROTM meant "Babe Robot of the Month".

BobC

Step away from the Soul Mirror!

Bagge

STAND BACK! BEEPS ASSERTED HERSELF!!!

Mitchell Sealy

Yeah, this is an inherently antagonistic relationship here. They've already denied May the new body she needs multiple times. If they could be trusted to be reasonable about this May wouldn't need Roko in the first place.

Jonas

@Jeph I just wanted to say I think you are doing awesome with these inter-robot dialogues and robots mixing with people! Thanks man! Happy to support!

Grace Kieser

I dunno, it's always good to have some leverage!

David Durant

QC still having a pretty negative stereotype about police...

Anonymous

As does pretty much everyone. Maybe if they stopped shooting unarmed black guys we might look on them a touch more favourably

Mark

Because they're female, and Jeph has perfected (except in full profile, which still looks a bit weird) the art of drawing cute ladies.

Ack

I think there's more to the 'all cops are trigger-happy bastards' thing than really meets the eye. Cops in America are basically facing a population that can (and will) be carrying firearms, and will open fire on cops if they get the chance. So the state of mind "I have to be ready to shoot first" makes some sense, especially as police officers don't actually have a great chance of both getting the bad guy in any given firefight without being shot themselves. It's a sad and sorry state of affairs that leads to people being shot who were not in and of themselves being aggressive or even dangerous (Justine Damond, an unarmed white Australian woman, called the cops, then got shot when she went to greet them) because of police officers having hair-triggers and shooting first.

Roko's police experience: "Just the fax m'am"

Ack

Australian police, on the other hand, tend to be courteous and willing to de-escalate, because they know that they are carrying lethal weaponry (and also non-lethal options) and the chances are low that the other person will be armed with a firearm.

FuryoftheStars

"No, seriously, just the fax. Can you hand it to me? From right there behind you? Thanks."

David Pipes

Oh, what a Realizing face. :-)

Risa Wolf

Also I love that the acronym literally says "bread m" in German.

Joe

punching a paper bag is generally unproductive. not sure what experiences you've had, but combative usually results in your case/issue/etc. going to the bottom of someone's in-tray, in my experience.

Matt Grayson

I think there are two other uses of the tented fingers. One when Claire asks Martin if she should move in with him. But I can't remember the other. Maybe Marigold?

Anonymous

Yes. Actually, several times with Marigold, if I recall correctly, just from my recent archive dive.

jimfromtx

I kinda want to see what that plaque looks like now.
