We've crate-trained Ollie since he was a lil puppo, and it's really nice! He gets his meals in the crate and we never use it as punishment, so for him it's just a space to relax in. Sometimes he'll just go in there to chill now. He spends the night in there (although we'll probably phase that out once he's grown up) and it's good to know he's not doing anything dangerous when we're not at home. I highly recommend crates!

I don't get the strange (food and water?) bowls--the salmon-colored one with the spiral pattern and the blue one. Seems as if that would make eating more difficult (as has been mentioned perhaps by T. Sudbrink) and cleaning substantially more difficult. What is the intent of these things? V curious.

They're puzzle feeders - they help the dog stay engaged and mentally stimulated by making them work for their food.
