They can be idiots together. And they're kinda adorable at it. :)

"aout" should probably be about

OK my problem with this is the shift in comforting. Martin is hurt by people sharing his personal information and he winds up having to comfort Claire in this because she's being insecure. If she at least apologized first...

Patrick Liston

I always kind of got the impression that the thing with Dora was just the last straw. Other than that he just seems annoyed by it.

Populuxe

I can completely identify with Claire, here.

This does make me wonder, how long have Claire and Marten been dating in comic time? I mean, I know it's been since October 2014 in real time, but comic time and real time move at different speeds.

Andy Sleeper

Meanwhile back at the door... "ID please!"

"Marten isn't good at dealing with insecurity" seems like a weird thing for Dora to have taken away from their relationship. Dora had a LOT of insecurity. Not to say Marten's blameless for how it ended, or its Dora's fault for having issues--just that Dora and Claire are very different people who handle emotions differently, and emotions that cause problems in one relationship won't necessarily cause them in another. "Marten can't handle ongoing/repetitive issues well" seems like the better take.

Peter Jensen

Well, whether it's fair to say that he isn't good at dealing with insecurities in his partner, it was in large parts what ended up shooting down Marten/Dora. So makes sense for Dora to warn about that path to failure, and for Claire to make an effort to be less insecure.

Yeh, people bullied Marten into drawing the wrong conclusion for the past 6 years. Sad to see this comic reinforces it. He made the right call with Padme. He was not stupid, she was playing with his feelings. Ah well, at least the weird almost conflict seems resolved.

David Howe

Meh, safer to assume fault on both sides there. Padme wasn't playing with his feelings, she was struggling with the conflict between her growing feelings for Martin vs her perceived need to move states for family issues, and started avoiding dealing with that by avoiding Martin. Martin in turn reacted to that in typical Martin fashion and refused to see her on the night before she left, so yeah, Empathy fail there, but understandable.

A problem with the strip archive is that it's difficult to find a particular storyline. I would like to go back and revise the Marten-Padma one but I couldn't guess within several hundred strips where to start... Never mind, there's a link in the comments to the previous strip, to Padma's page in the QC wiki, that tells me.

Oooohh too relatable, tears building

Peter Jensen

You know what would be super nice? Character tagging and archive previews. A nightmare task to retroactively add, for sure, but would make it lots easier to find a particular storyline. Actually, just the previews might not be too hard to implement from a mechanical point of view (though as a SW developer, I'm all too aware of the danger of proclaiming something "simple").

I think this page is my new favorite

When Marten inevitably goes through the entire female cast for dating can we get a spin off of he and pintsize being romantically involved? XD

MikeT

Well Pintsize IS just about to get some useful equipment...

My archive trawl to revisit the sad tale of Marten and Padma kept going, and no I've hit the strip <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2203" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2203</a>that introduced Claire (and Emily, and Gabby who was presumably eaten by an allosaurus) and she seems rather taller than her current incarnation. Did she stop wearing heels at some point? Unless my eyes deceive me, she's reached her accustomed height by this strip <a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2213" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2213</a> . Teething troubles with a new character I suppose.
