This hits home for me - my Ph.D. attempt would've been more successful if my supervisor had offered some guidance on avoiding burnout rather than just saying "that's the nature of research" every time I told him I was struggling. Thanks, Prof. Taylor.

Then the nature of research is wrong... Burnout is talked about a lot more now in academia, and we have a lot of students who come in that value work/life balance which is good. There are still a lot of old school thinkers though
