There's actually a film of The Handmaid's Tale that was produced in the 90s. I haven't watched it yet as I want to see how the TV show concludes, in case there are any story elements yet unused or even spoilers. I didn't know anything about the original book either before watching the show. Some small world lore snippets were explained. But we still have those many questions also, obviously. I didn't pick up on the Handmaid's given names until later. As June has been renamed Offred after her subjugation. Probably, as it wasn't spelt out as implicitly to the audience till later on, and I was so distracted and discombobulated by all the appalling realities and baffling behaviour. What commander Fred Waterford did by asking June to his study to play a game. Was to both further exert control over her. By making her partake in an activity now forbidden to her gender. While also creepily trying to form a bond over it as well. Lord Voldemort's brother is excellent in this role. Clearly, they both play evil monsters incredibly well. There are so many aspects of disturbing psychopathy on display in the act of dehumanising people in this demolished state. We are really only just getting started.

Really enjoying your Handmaid's Tale reactions, I actually ended up watching the first two seasons after your first episode reaction, so I'm really looking forward to more of it. Btw, did you forget to post the Black Mirror episode (S2E1) on here? I noticed it's on youtube a while ago. As always, no worries if you're busy, just wondering in case you forgot!
