Pearl is magnificent, her performance does rival Peter's on occasion. The show has been very fortunate (up to this point) to have such strong actors for The Doctor's companions. Even when you might not like each one as much as another. There's no denying that the portrayals have always been great. I find it hard to favour Catherine over Pearl at times. They are so close, as my favourites.

I've binge watched your reactions so hard to catch up it felt like you'd moved in at one point 😂 I see some parallels between this episode and The Beast Below (Amy's first off world adventure with the space whale). I like to think that the Doctor putting the decision on Bill wether to save the beast potentially putting humans at risk, and also when he made Clara do the same thing with the moon egg, was because of Amy's actions in the Beast Below. He was going to harm the space whale to save the humans, but Amy took it upon herself to free it, and everybody lived. I think that's the moment the Doctor realized he needed to put that trust in his human companions to make these decisions on behalf of the human race, instead of it falling on his shoulders. At least, that's my theory anyway. Could be completely wrong lol.
