Believe it or not, Tao gets a lot of hate for being overprotective of Charlie and showing so much hate toward Nick, but I really like Tao and I think he gets a lot of unnecessary hate. That scene by the milkshake stand where Tao comes to help carry glasses (on Charlie's request), a lot of reactors actually blame Tao for making that situation awkward when he says 'Am I interrupting something?', but I think he approaches it politely as he was actually asked over to help. But also, I love Charlie (as I'm sure you still do). He's so insecure and I think he worries what it'll do to his and Tao's friendship if he found out about Nick and Charlie being together, when Tao outwardly doesn't particularly care for Nick - although this is understandable to a degree with what Tao sees of Nick, but also Nick is obviously infatuated with Charlie and vice versa even in front of Tao. But I'm with you, sometimes Charlie doesn't treat Tao with as much respect as his other friends, and I really wish him or nick had told tao in this episode, but I guess Charlie may also be thinking that it's more nick's news to tell, as he is in actual fact the one that would be coming out to them. But then again, I don't think Nick would mind Tao knowing, especially if it made things easier on Charlie. And finally, I think if Tao knew he would just accept Charlie's decision and support him. I have no doubt there. I think people forget Tao's 15, and so he's still quite impulsive and may not look at things objectively, but overall he's a wonderful friend to Charlie and just a good guy. He has a few questionable moments coming up, but ultimately he is 15, and we all make mistakes at that age. Doesn't change the fact of how much he loves his friends. There are comics for this show that it's based on (vol 1-4) are out at the moment and there's a volume 5 coming too. If you did want to read them without spoiling the next 2 seasons of the show, this season 1 covers volumes 1 and 2 of the comics. (Which are just as good as the show, in my opinion). And unlike most adaptations not a lot is changed from book to screen, although they do amp up the drama a little for the show in order to have made more out of it I guess (all the additions still make sense though). Charlie's reluctance to tell Tao is shown a bit differently in the books and paints Charlie in a better light. But like I said, I still love Charlie. He's just a ball of insecurity, love him. Glad you're loving the show! It's just beautiful in every way, and I think everyone wants to be in this friend group, or at least wishes they had it in school. It's predominantly described as a wholesome show, and I couldn't agree more. It's just pure joy, mainly.
