"Oh... What's going on…? I… I need to escape…

But I can’t move... anything…"

Jackson’s mind was in a constant haze with only brief moments of lucidity. He had been plugged into the glutton for well over a month now and his weight was ballooning out of control.

The lack of exercise mixed with the high caloric shake draining down his throat was causing his body to expand in all directions. He was now well aware that his belly had become enormous. It bulged out over his legs filling his lap and spreading down his sides. Even if he broke free from his restraints, would he even be able to stand up? He dwelled on that terrifying thought. All this time he had been strapped to the chair, never having to actually move his body; now he wasn’t sure he could.

He shook his arms slightly, and could feel their newfound weight. His biceps were rapidly being covered by a thick layer of fat pushing his arms further from the back wall. The muscles strained, attempting to get some leverage to push against his restraints. His feeble attempt to move was interrupted by the speaker to his left, which shouted in Finley’s voice that he needed to continue to eat and enjoy...

The speakers were constantly filling Jackson’s mind with prerecorded thoughts and ideas, barely leaving him anytime to think. When he did manage to mentally break from the drug-induced haze, he always thought back to what led him here. To that terrible accident, and his own mistakes. To Finley...

Finley had once been a star track runner; skilful at long distance and scouted by several colleges. He and Jackson were partners in the long distance relay on their high school team and were constantly bringing home victories.

They had been close friends throughout junior high, supporting each other’s ambitions through group practice and endurance training. However, when Jackson entered his junior year he noticed that Finley was getting more attention from the scouts, as if he, and not Jackson, were the better runner. A rage built up in him, envy and greed boiled over and slowly Jackson started to hate his former friend.

It reached a climax the night before the junior year semifinals race. Jackson lingered in the locker room, waiting until he was the only one remaining. Walking over to Finley’s locker, Jackson took out his spare key (from when they practiced together) and opened it. He took out Finley's running shoes, made of a light silver thread, textured to look like interlacing diamonds, designed to reduce stress on the runner. Turning the left shoe on its side, he pulled out a thin knife from his pocket. Quickly he slid the knife along the side of the sole, weakening its supports. Jackson thought it would peel back mid-race, revealing Finley’s foot and flopping about like a sandal. It would cause immense embarrassment in front of the college scouters, or so he thought.

However... midway through the race, when Finley was running up a short hill, his shoe disintegrated. His equilibrium was compromised and he tumbled all the way down the hill. When he came to a rest at the bottom he was sitting on his own legs, both badly broken. Rushed off the field, it was clear that all his plans for college and professional sports were over, shattered like his legs. And so Jackson took his place, replacing him and gaining sports recognition of his own. Going as far as the Olympic qualifiers. But now, it seemed Finley was having his revenge...

The Glutton dinged, breaking Jackson out of his nostalgic trance; each speaker roared out its approval.

"Another 10 pounds done.”

“You're consuming at a rate 5 times your main competition.”

“You're in peak athletic condition!”

He heard the feeding tube start to gurgle, and the sweet intoxicating mixture flooded his mouth.

Yes, he thought, another 10 pounds. I'm getting so good at this sport... I mean, what's the point of distance running when I'm so good at this already...

It’s so delicious... so rewarding...

Big Jackson getting BIG

Poor Jackson is looking so tired and worn out. I want to give him cuddles and say: "It's OK, sleep now."

I hope we get a comparison shot with Jackson standing side by side with Finley.

The writer, Sarav59, has let me in on his plans for the series a little bit, and all I can say is - it made me smile.
