Art Book: Dev Diary - Feb 21, 2020 (Patreon)
Content
As some of you might have seen posted on my other blogs, I want to make an Art Book. Right now, it is literally just an idea in my head, though it's something I've been thinking about for a long time. So I thought I would keep a dev diary of how it progresses. Maybe, if things work out, this will follow it from idea to reality. Then again, it may come to nothing.
First of all - What is the book about?
Well, my idea is that it would be full of illustrations of bears and big men in various roles and jobs and scenarios. So, for instance - a big-bellied boxer grappling with a smaller opponent, or a huge round businessman in a tight suit leaning over his coworker, or perhaps a friendly baker with a chubby round face smiling towards the 'camera' as he offers you some bread. I want to portray how sexy a big man can be, across all kinds of different facets of life, so the book would ideally have a homoeroticism element to it, as well as touching on body-positivity. There would be a little write-up next to each illustration, perhaps outlining who the guy is, their various tasks in their job, something like that. Think of it as a kind of Coffee Table Book. Oh, and it would all be full-color illustrations too, like my FatCigarDad or Pompeypat72 pieces.
Secondly - Progress so far...
So far... not much. I have written to publishers and not had any replies, and I've also contacted others in the bear community who have had their work published, and replies have been quite mixed - from sort of helpful to not at all. But one take-away has been that self-publishing could be an option. And perhaps offering a small print-run of physical copies alongside a digital version for kindles and such. Ideally, I want this to be a Book. A physical thing you can hold in your hands and own. But this is my first rodeo so I'm having to look at all available options here.
Basically, I'm at the research stage when it comes to publishing. However, I WILL be sharing some of the artwork with you guys here (and maybe in my blogs in a much more limited capacity), and I will be sharing ideas for layouts, sketches, early drafts and things like that. And as always, your feedback will be invaluable.
So, to conclude, watch this space, and wish me luck!
