Hey Patrons! Here is a quick rundown of what is happening in our skies this month. I will do my best to shoot these events for you, but if you'd like tips on how to capture them yourself, I'm happy to chat with you!

June 3rd- Mercury at Greatest Eastern Elongation
Mercury is one of the hardest planets to capture, just because it is so close to the sun. At the greatest elongation, it will appear the highest in the sky possible at sunset, so is the best time to capture it. Look West at sunset, it will look like a star in the western sky.

June 4th- Double shadow transit on Jupiter
This one requires a telescope! Jupiter will have the shadow from both Ganymede and Europa on the Jovian surface. This event will begin at 3:22AM and end at 5:52am (Pacific time). If I can drag myself out of bed that early I may try and capture it. There are a couple of these every month, but this one is notable since it will happen at a time when Jupiter is easily visible (and not obscured by daylight) for me.

June 5th- Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse
For people living in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and most of Australia, a Penumbral lunar eclipse will be visible. Sadly I will miss it up here in North America, but will be shooting the full moon that evening (weather permitting). There is another lunar eclipse next month that I will hopefully capture for you!

June 21st- New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse
June 21st marks the New moon, and also an Annular Eclipse if you live in Africa or Southern Asia.  I will miss this event, but will likely be spending time in dark skies to capture deep space, as the new moon is the best time to do it.
