Mary, a playful and shameless young woman in her nineteen years, has just moved in with her boyfriend and fiancé, Mike, who has a swanky house on the banks of a river on the outskirts of the city in Canada. However, it is not easy for Mike to keep up with his work from home because Mary is playing games all the time and is behind him all the time asking for his attention continuously, all day and every day, as if Mary has an absolute and radical need to get attention all the time. Also, to Mike's misfortune, they are in winter, so they are both cooped up in the house all day, every day together.

It's not that Mike doesn't love Mary, Mike loves Mary deeply, but he never imagined it would be so complicated to live with her. On the other hand, Mary, who still loves Mike intensely even though she doesn't feel completely satisfied with the attention Mike gives her since he has to work (and she always wants more attention), is always thinking all the time what to do to get Mike's attention. When she lived at home with her parents, besides the fact that she dropped out of school due to underachievement, she was used to receiving attention all the time thanks to the fact that her family, while distant with her since they were never home, had a wide range of hired servants in their home, who catered to Mary's whims and gave her all the attention she needed.

Mike is aware that Mary received a lot of attention at home from her parents thanks to the maids, but even though he is more and more convinced that he should hire servants to distract Mary, he is actually very greedy, and, in the end, he decides not to hire anyone, because he believes that Mary should become, even a little bit, more self-sufficient, both physically and emotionally. Besides, a pet is much cheaper than hiring and giving social security to a maid, because unlike some other countries, there you can't hire people illegally without giving them social security or anything like that, at least as far as Mike knows, since he just moved to that cold country because of the cheap rents there, something that quickly caught a young and very greedy Mike

Finally, the weekend has arrived, however, unluckily for Mike, who was planning to watch a movie with Mary or some other more digestible activity, due to a heavy blizzard, the wired internet system is damaged, and they end up cut off from the rest of society and what is going on out there, at least until someone comes to fix the wiring. Mike calls tech support again and again, but they repeatedly reply that they will come out and fix it until the blizzard stops, which could take several days. Even though Mike doesn't worry about the most basic of necessities, like food, since there is enough to last several months of blizzard, he can't feel some anxiety without being able to see his social networks, plus, if they don't fix the fiber optic wiring by Monday, he will have difficulty in his job as a bot programmer with his Indian employer. Mike didn't think it would have such bad consequences moving to Canada, but now he understands why rent is so cheap there.

Meanwhile Mary comes out of her room and shows Mike a new dress, which, while it looks comfortable and warm, also turns out to be a bit bare and, even though there is heat, Mike worries that, if the heat fails, the cold will penetrate a Mary unprepared for the situation. When Mary asks how her dress looks, he tries to warn her, though it doesn't seem that Mary is going to take his opinion into account, Mary is generally not very bright. On the other hand, Mary, who has just realized that the internet service is dead and seeing the intense snowstorm that doesn't let them leave the house, tries to think of a solution so that they can spend time together.

Finally, Mary comes up with a great idea. What if they make a bet with some absurd conditions for them both? Mary comes up with the idea, since Mike complains that she talks a lot and is very fidgety at times, to play dolls with Mike... She will have to pretend to be a doll for as long as possible, without moving or talking, and he will have to treat her like a doll. If she gets tired of behaving like a doll and abandons her doll role, she will have to pay Mike $100, whereas if Mike gets annoyed at treating her like a doll first, he will have to pay Mary $100. Mike, puzzled by the absurdity of the offer, finally accepts, as he sees it interesting to experiment with Mary on how long she can remain quiet and peaceful. They both agreed to start with the dynamic in the morning of the next day, as the night was approaching, and it was best for both of them to sleep.

The next day, Mike woke up a little tired, he hadn't slept so many hours in a long time, and he wondered if he had slept so much because of the comfortable warmth of the heater and the thick, warm blanket. On the other hand, while Mike was barely awake, it seemed that Mary had gotten up early and was ready for her little immobile adventure, dressed, combed and made up like a doll. Mary looked like such a real doll, Mike would swear that if he left Mary abandoned in a toy store, she would surely be mistaken and bought by someone. Also, Mary had no trouble finding a dress for the occasion, as she likes lolita and Victorian-era fashions and has many dresses that are close enough to a doll's outfit. In this case, she wears a nice fluffy green dress with white crinoline, white stockings, green strappy slippers and long white gloves above the elbow, plus a big green bow on her head.

Mike can't believe that Mary has managed to look so much like a doll, but now he's ready to find out how long Mary, who is usually very hyperactive, can go without moving and being treated like a doll. So, Mike carries Mary and sits her on a shelf. Mary pretends so well to be a doll that she feigns stiffness in her legs and arms. Mike even tries to bend Mary's legs, but Mary's knees resist, and her legs remain spread and straight. Mike even passes a hand in front of Mary's eyes and the eyes stare vacantly into infinity and does not follow Mary's gaze to the movement of Mike's hand. Then Mike, convinced of winning that $100, will take the bet to the next level.

Mike ties some white ribbons to the joints and other strategic places of Mary's body, then ties the strings to some puppeteer controls, and finally climbs to the dining room table by means of a chair while carrying Mary on his shoulder, then Mike releases Mary to the floor and she hangs as a puppet on the strings while Mike carries her, Mike, even though he struggles a little to hold Mary, who fortunately weighs very little because of his usual rigid diet to maintain a good figure, finally manages to maneuver the controls and uses Mary as a puppet. It is surprising to Mike that Mary is so quiet, calm and passive, but on the other hand, he is enjoying using her as a puppet, as he has discovered a side of himself that he didn't know himself. It was so much fun for Mike to play with Mary as if she were a puppet that they were playing that way all day long, until very late at night. Finally, it is time for bed, and Mike, impressed that Mary has not moved a muscle in all that time, puts Mary on the ledge in their shared room, upping the ante once again and hopes that Mary, tired of moving around as a puppet all day, decides to come down from the ledge to sleep. Mike even sets about turning on his computer's webcam so that it will record the room and specifically Mary all the time so that it will be evidenced when Mary moves around while he sleeps. Meanwhile, finally, Mike lies down on his bed and curls up in his comforter.

Meanwhile, at night, Mary tries to move, tired of continuing to play the bet, although she can't deny that she enjoys being the center of Mike's attention. On the other hand, it is useless to try to move, her muscles are very numb from not moving voluntarily in all that time, and her body has been somehow paralyzed and semi-rigid, so it will take Mary several hours to be able to move. Mary, tired, decides to sleep in the same position in which Mike put her, anyway... what's the worst that could happen? Besides, Mike left a huge pillow on the shelf below and behind Mary so she wouldn't be so uncomfortable.

Finally, after several minutes, Mary has fallen sound asleep. In her mind she sees something resembling a strange black-winged fairy, but she seems quite happy and cheerful, especially looking at the situation. Mary, on the other hand, is standing in a cute doll-like pose on a pedestal in the middle of a room. The winged woman, with intense red eyes, strokes Mary's head, asking, "So you are very happy with all that attention, aren't you?" to which Mary replies in the affirmative in her mind, whereupon the winged woman replies "Huhh, what a little doll so determined to be happy, then I should fulfill your wish to be a happy little doll and let you can be one forever."

Finally, the fairy disappears, and a powerful light is absorbing more and more of Mary.

Several weeks later Mike wonders if he should call a doctor, or if Mary really doesn't want to lose that $100, since she hasn't been moving all that time and he's had to feed her, move her and help her potty train, and even bathe and dress her all the time. He can't complain, though, since at least Mary isn't bothering him, and her vital signs seem stable despite not moving.

Meanwhile, Mary is there, sitting on the ledge, while Mike works, looking off into infinity with a smile and drooling a little, as if her mind is submerged in an immense sea of ecstasy and her mind is going on sabbatical at the same time.
