Teiji Hayama's unsettling grayscale portraits distort the visages of some of modernity's most iconic stars, rendering these visages both recognizable and uncomfortably "off." Hayama turns the likenesses of celebrities like Elvis Presley. Marilvn Monroe. David Bowie inside out repositioning mouths and eyes, layering silhouettes, and blurring details to turn profiles that once exemplified glamour and poise into images of discomfort and fatigue.
