Hey there, nudies! Brad here with a small MNL update! As you can see up above, we've been doing a little experimenting! While we've always planned on using fixed camera angles (which is the reason why this project is manageable at all compared to Roshutsu, to be honest), we were originally still going to make 3D environments. However, that's proven to be a fairly time-consuming and expensive process. After some research though, we became curious as to how Amber's 3D model would look moving around in a purely hand-drawn 2D environment. Using some Rock Cocks background art, Jaguar whipped up the above test!
Not bad, right? Especially for background art that wasn't even made to be used for a game! If we start making 2D backgrounds with the intent that a character will be walking around, in front of, and behind stuff, while accommodating things like running water or a moving sky... I think it could look amazing. Especially if it means we can make environments even faster and easier!
We'll be doing a search for a background artist this week. In the meantime, I've been doing some more writing on the game, better defining the character dynamics and relationships. I've had to do some rewriting, but I think it will overall make a much better, sexier, and more positive game. Gotta always strive to be better!
Also, our lead programmer Invertex has been working on some pretty cool nudie tech. Check it out!
That's right! You can literally scrub Amber now! This isn't just for the shower mini-game either. This cool shader Invertex wrote up allows all sorts of things. Shiny wet skin, dirty parts, even body writing! Lot of potential with this! Invertex is amazing!
