Upcoming Change To Patreon (Patreon)

In case you haven't gotten the email from Patreon, there's gonna be a change to how pledges are handled. Long story short: Starting December 18th, Patreon is gonna start charging you the processing fee (2.9% + $0.35) instead of taking it out of the pledge.

That means if you're currently pledging $1, you'll be charged an extra $0.38 for your pledge. And if you're someone who does several pledges to creators, that will start to add up.

Honestly I would prefer it because I'll probably lose more patrons than what I gain (which is just a few cents per pledge).

I have the same question as Kluk. I love your work, but I am going to have to drop at least 1, if not 2 of my pledges because of this bullshit. Is there another way to support you?

This is making me seriously consider just dropping all my pledges. I'm not rich and I'm kinda stretching myself with my pledges. This will not make it easier on me. So This will probably make A LOT of patrons leave.

Yeah I have seen more people against this change. I support a number of creators and luckily I am in a situation where I can afford the price hike. Some are not as fortunate and it will only hurt the creators. I hope they go back on it since it seems most don't like this.

Well, my total monthly pledge amount just went from $60 to $20. If anyone chooses to cancel a pledge make sure to do the survey they give you and pick other reason. Then say because of the new fees. If it wasn't a per pledge fee this would be a different story but this makes me sad.
