Hi! Id like some advice for my dog who is scared of walking by barking dogs, she takes off running!!

Hey Edna! So issues like this take time. And some dogs are just more shy than others. Start by taking step back and reinforcing the calm, non nervous behavior first. Do more socializing if your dog is good around other dogs too! How old is your dog? Would you say that your dog is generally nervous or not?

She is not shy around dogs, kids or people, but some stuff makes her REALLY anxious (barking dogs in houses, horses, sewers and suitcases) When we pass by a house with a barking dog (or if she knows there is one) she pulls to the other side, runs, crawl. Ive tried giving her turkey as we pass them, throwing the frissbee, but it doesnt really work. Also she has become a little obsessed with her own shadow. When I see her doing it I say no and give her a toy or I do some training to get her mind off it. She is 1 year old, border collie crazy

Sounds like you need to give it time. Issues of anxiety like this take lots of time. Getting her tired before a walk may help too.

I've got a new (been in the house for a little over 2 weeks) 10 month old female pit bull who is *VERY* interested in our two cats. Whenever she sees them she becomes hyper-aroused with pacing, running back and forth and rapid whining. She is distractable with treats and will perform for food even with the cats around (so far she knows sit, down, leave it, paw) but the minute you put the treats away she's impossible to redirect or calm once she has seen the cats. The cats have escape routes and safe places and the dog is crated when not directly supervised. Am I on the right track? How can I work towards calming an amped dog--does this just take time?
