I might add a little monologue to give us an idea of what's going on in Cody's head, but maybe the scene reads better with fewer words

i feel no monologue from Cody suits the scene more, since this is something he did out of impulse, is usually unlike him, and not something he'd probably carefully think out till after the fact. hope that hard head of Willy's comes in clutch here :V

I think you're right that without a monologue reads better. Really implies that Cody was not thinking when he hit Willy. It's honestly kinda chilling to read. I do think Willy should be lying with his legs to the left based on the way Cody hit him.
