Cody's dad coming in with the hot New Testament references

I ain't religious at all, but I've got a lot of Lutheran in my background, and I know my Bible. I thought it would make the story more interesting if Cody's dad had a less personal take on Cody's question. I imagine they sat around debating theology and epistemology a lot when Cody was growing up, and this is another iteration of that pattern!
