Here's a little retrospective over the past few years of doing these comic things. If you have some questions about me or my work feel free to ask below!

I don't usually like to talk about myself. I guess having a bit of time off this weekend put me in a writing mood! This is stream-of-consciousness stuff so I apologize for the scattershot approach; I'll do my best to organize it into something readable

Why I make comics

After college I worked as a software architect for a large company. It was fun and challenging work, and I enjoyed it, but in the back of my mind I've always realized I'm going to get old and die. I like creating things, and I wanted to use my time for more personal work, so I figured I'd try a new career in storytelling rather than keep on my old career path. Patreon gave me a good opportunity to start that!

Art and storytelling are my ways of exploring the world and other people, examining the mechanisms of topics that interest me, figuring out new perspectives. I love a good boner, but I felt like too many other furry comics didn't give me the other kind of boner – a boner of the heart!

I want to learn to tell stories that are very human, and break down the boundary that says porn and non-porn are two separate categories. If porn is cake icing, I want to bake a whole cake, and not just sit around eating icing out of a tin.

Why my art style is what it is

This is more subjective, but I don't like drawing cartoons. I like realistic anatomy and realistic faces. It's tough to push this art style without making shit look weird, and in the beginning I was pretty unsure about moving in this direction, but as I spend more time learning how to draw gooder I'm encouraged by the progress. The linework quality has improved a lot and it's faster for me to put pages out, so if this keeps up I'm calling it a win

My views on piracy

Some very nice people send me DMs when they spot my comic appearing out in the wild. It's nice of them to be concerned, but piracy doesn't bother me. It's just one of those things that happens, and I believe that my job is to give you as good an experience as I can, and make my comics accessible to all kinds of folks at reasonable cost.

This is one of the reasons I put out all the pages eventually on FA and other sites. I consider everyone who enjoys my stories to be a potential supporter, and I want my own galleries to be the best place for you to read my stories if you're interested

I believe a lot of young poor folks pirate, but everyone grows up and starts supporting things they care about, especially from individual creators. I hope my passion and love of storytelling can shine through and touch some hearts!

Thank you

I deeply appreciate all the support I get here and elsewhere. I don't take it for granted. Art and storytelling is part of a greater conversation, and I hope my work will help inspire you to find your own creative voice

Been following you for a long time. Your art has grown so much and your characters have been so full of depth. Happy to support you.

Took me a while to realise what pbm meant. Here's to many more years of creative freedom and mutual (I hope) inspiration!

Your work is incredible! It's great that Patreon has let you focus on creating these amazing comics. I remember you posting drafts of The Big Freshman on Twitter and musing about starting a Patreon. I come and go on other Patreon accounts, but yours is one of my perma-subscriptions.

Jthem

I started following you since the first Jesse and Aaron story. One of the best decisions I have made. The way your storytelling has evolved is awe inspiring to behold. This post only re-enforces how thoughtful and forward thinking you are about your art and how people react to it. It's things like this that have made me dedicated a supporter. I hope others feel the same ♥️

Flautolenzio

Now I understand all those vscode and python line in all the screens in your comics

That's a really mature view about piracy! It's how I discovered your work, and now I'm here - a proud supporter of your art.

I am really impressed by how good your storytelling has got since Big Freshman!

Honestly you've got something really good going with what you're doing, even if there are dicks and butts. The work you've put out in the last year is phenomenal, especially for it to all be done by one person, and it's like you keep getting better. Don't ever stop 😁

Thank you! It’s not for everyone but as long as I’m moving in the right direction, good enough!

purplebirdman

Thank you and glad to have you! I think most creators have a hard time looking at piracy impersonally. My viewpoint isn’t a big leap of logic or anything

It's nice to hear some background about the reasons which lead you to creating comics. I can definitely say you do a fantastic job with finding a perfect middle way between the story and the erotic aspect of your comics. It's much more interesting than the usual furry NSFW comic. Your characters develop fluidly, you put a lot of love and creativity into them and your designs are just amazing. The expressions you create impressed me the most, you give your characters a lot of life, it's something I don't see often. I can definitely say you made a good choice with the path you have walked so far and I look forward to see what you will create in future.

I was just talking about your art style the other day in a very similar light! While it took a little bit of refining, I think you've carved out something truly unique and human within this space <3

Piracy is endemic because some folks are chuds, but there's also some folks who do want to support financially but can't. I used to be one of them, and even now I would want to support more folks. And support folks more. So, I just hope that you're able to continue telling the stories you want to tell. Also, wow, there being more cake with regard to how porn is usually seen... yeah. I feel that.

purplebirdman

It’s still got a ways to go before I’m satisfied but I’m always willing to put myself out there and fail short term!

purplebirdman

Yeah I think it’s a maturity thing. At some point you want to support stuff you find meaning. Thanks man!

Mr. Morebucks

I, for one, think your stories are absolutely splendid! I was a poorer person who had stumbled onto your work, but as I got more money, I said you'd be one of the first people I intended to support! Cheers to your creativity and passion!

Jarisfury

I remember seeing your stuff all the time on forum websites then your Twitter then here haha! Thanks for advancing comics in the furry community! 😊

I love great stories and your work inspires me a lot! I’m a very realistic/vanilla person when it comes to nsfw, and I love that you show the true colors behind their love in comics. I do feel bad often when reading furry nsfw since a lot of it feels too far from reality and almost hyper sexualizing a lot of aspects that I enjoy romantically. I am a trans man, but a lot of gay (cis) male comics just make me feel awful reading what i like, because of how its only about… yknow penis. But youre showing stories of love, and no matter their appearance. I definitely remember goodnight punpun being an inspiration to your work, and i need to read that manga again!

purplebirdman

Thanks man it’s good to hear I can write stories that appeal broadly. I hope to keep adding variety and quality to my stories!
