I think you did a great job of capturing the strangeness in him which might come from a long life. New experiences are a thing which is extremely rare for Avalon, so he enjoys seeing the minute differences in how different people do the same things, and tries very much to stay in the moment. I get the feeling it's hard for Avalon not to overthink things or get lost in memories.
