Lake Clarity - Season 3 Rough Drafts (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

I had a listener on Discord asking about Lake Clarity Season 3 (the show I was making before SCP Archives) and I thought I’d share some of our early drafts.

This series was written by Jonathan Goldberg, who I later co-wrote Margaret’s Garden with! In this version of Lake Clarity we had the military re-open operations at the bunker beneath the lake. Then they send in two teams of soldiers to begin mining out these strange time crystals, but something happens and the squads get separated.

Pretty early on we discover that the two teams sent in are actually at the same location, but centuries apart. They must both communicate with HQ to excavate these crystals together, with the team in the past opening certain structures, or pre-drilling holes.

This series featured a lot of fun witty banter between characters, some fleshy holes in the walls, and some very colorful characters. Ultimately it was scapped as the cast was a little too big for my comfort level at the time, and I was worried the show would too closely resemble Stranger Things (which we were already stepping on the toes of). But, I really enjoyed Jonathan’s out of the box writing style! I thought he’d be a perfect fit to help develop the world of Everton and the Astral Plane!

Vesion 2

Awhile after this version of the story was penned, I started writing another version which followed Ally after she got pulled into the portal. On the other side she’d discover a swampy alien world, with traces of our militaries’ technology littered about.

It was going to be a pretty lonely season, with much of the story being told by Ally’s narration as she journeyed through this strange world. Occasionally she’d discover old tape recordings and logs of the (seemingly missing) military, describing their initial exploration into this world. Ally would never find bodies though- Just abandoned equipment.

Eventually, Ally would reach a strange black pyramid, and inside find an ever-shifting labyrinth of alien design. As she’d wander through she’d find more old logs, and even some alien technology that hints at what really happened here.

And (hopefully) she’d start to uncover a way back home…
