Hey! I've intended to make this status update last week, but I didn't want it to "overlap" with the public release.
I have a few important announcements to make, so let's start with one of them.
The changelog for this month's build (it might be named Risque Search) will be as follows:
- We'll have 2 new maps, the forest outside the ship and the lake that's connected to the forest. These are going to be used in the September update as well, but they will look different because September's content will take place during the night.
- 2 New Outfits, with separable parts. The spacesuit helmet, the spacesuit itself, an adventurer outfit composed of pants, boots, and a shirt.
- 3 New Explicit Drawings.
- 2 New "Immersion" Drawings. (I made sure to make them look a bit *exciting* as well :D)
- New Dialogues which bring upon the ending of the The Crash quest.
- General Bugfixes.
- New Art Assets (environmental assets)
One reason I wanted to make this status update was to not forget any of the bulletpoints above for when I'll make the release 😅 And now, in regards to the when... I'll elaborate by showing the facts, then I'll explain.
- The Paparazzi Build is going to be released to the Supporter tier on Wednesday, 23rd of August 2023.
- The "Risque Search" build (not fully decided on the name) is going to be released to Explorer and Scientist tiers on Wednesday, 23rd of August 2023.
- The "Day3.1 Simulation Room" build is going to be released to the public around Friday, 15th September 2023. (Day3.0 Suspicious Grass has just been released to the public)
Now, one might expect release dates to be delayed, but this time I'll actually do the opposite, in the spirit of what Larian did with Baldur's Gate 3 (by releasing it one month early), I'm going to release them more than one week early (since normally the release would be made around the last day of the month, that being Thursday, 31st of August)
Next month I'm going to do the same thing, the Patron builds are going to get a new update between 18th - 22nd of September, which is the second to last week of September, instead of what it would normally be at the end of September.
And it's time to explain. I've been working since 2nd of January this year without any actual breaks, as in, no vacations of any kind. I wanted to put more work into reaching our goals sooner with the 2D game and not making the same mistakes I made during the development of the text game, which was, going a long time without actual releases even though the releases would be big. There were others mistakes, but it's too much to get into.
Around this month, I've started feeling the side effects of my routine, since even though I like what I'm doing it can be tiring to deal with things that are seemingly outside my control, such as bugs that happen to anyone but me during playtesting :D
It added up over time and I feel like I need to take a short break for the better long term health of the game(s), as the consequences of overwork can easily sneak in without us being very aware of it.
Therefore, and I promise I'm getting to the point, I will be on leave between the end of September and the middle of October, meaning that once I'm back from my vacation I'll spend my time going through issues people will have reported over time to try to fix them, maybe some extra dialogues, but there won't really be big content changes as there will not be much time for art.
I hope this is fine by you and despite having other choices, I wanted to keep development fully transparent as I feel this is the right thing to do.
