Hello! Here's another status update, a sequel to the one from last week

I'm trying to keep my promise to put out more frequent status updates, so here's what's been going on since the latest one:

  • Finished the design & integration into Unity of the forest map and the lakeshore map.

  • Finished the planning for the 3 scenes that will take place on the shore of the lake, during the interaction with the infected crewmate.
  • Been working on a design for the spacesuits and I released a poll to patrons because I was conflicted between a few different color schemas so based on the popular choice we ended up with one. There was also this suggestion which led me to a few experiments so I ended up with what you see attached to the main post!

  • Been working on dialogues and I think I finished the dialogues for the lakeshore content, and I'm commencing working on dialogues for what happens after that.
  • Planning for more CGs, so depending on how much time I have we can have more or less CGs in this release, but we will have at least 4!

Now, as you can see, I'm trying to keep myself focused on the goal and that is providing you with as much content as possible. While I do get very ambitious/idealist sometimes about how interesting the addition of a combat system and more recently, a sneaking system would be to the game (they seem fun in my imagination), I'm afraid that such ambitions might not be healthy for the long-term health of the game as any new mechanics would introduce new bugs, new bugs would slow down the content drip, and so on.

Therefore, while I've already started working on a combat system and I've even figured out "point to click" in order to walk somewhere using the A* pathfinder (seen in the above gif), I'm going to keep advancing the actual content by keeping it simple as we go.

These new mechanics will surely have their place in the near future, but as a solo dev it would be wiser to not rely on anything new until we at least get through a bit of the spaceship crash content in order to get to the gameplay loop which involves freeroaming around the ship, undertaking missions on different planets/areas sooner.

Thank you for your time and I hope you're having a pleasant beginning of the week!
