Future Development Planning Poll (Patreon)
Content
Hey! After resting for a few days in order to boost up my creativity, I've returned to work. My first step for this version was setting up git and putting up the project on GitLab, which will allow me to keep track of any changes and make saves cross-version compatible from all the versions going forward.
Since the big hurdles (the new interface and the updated systems) are now past us, my next step is to figure out a development schedule for Malevolent Planet. After we have that, my final preparation step will be to set the goalposts and start working on them.
For this step, I will need your help. Here are the choices:
Monthly Updates Advantages:
- It feels to me like even though the game is in a much better state than it was in the September Update, it didn't have the same boost in popularity as it got at that time, most likely because of Crushstation's promotion. After discussing this subject a bit on our Discord, I got the feeling that more frequent updates would make the game more noticed over time, attracting more support than less frequent updates would in the long term.
- With this approach, I can be more in touch with the playerbase's desires and your ideas for the game can get implemented more quickly. Clothes especially.
- You will get to access new content more often.
- For any Patrons, this approach can be friendlier in the sense that it shows that your support goes towards relatively meaningful updates that you can access during every pledge month.
Quarterly (every 3 months) Updates Advantages:
- The content is bigger than it would be in monthly updates.
- Most likely less bugs.
I personally side towards the monthly updates, but I want to see your opinion as well. Until December, we used to have monthly updates and it felt like the game was getting more and more support every month, but since we had to schedule this last update a little bit further, we might have lost some of that traction and I'd like to see it again, because it would mean I'm on the right way.
