The first release was supposed to take place on 10th June, but I worked more these days..

I have finished writing the ending of this chapter last Friday and since then I have been working more on the art and on fixing bugs. I will list below what changes I made to the current release, and I will add what I have made already for the Life Simulator release. There will

  • There have been some bugs in the ending of the current chapter, mostly caused by the "do you pick this or that" choices. It feels that the content starting from the next release should have more intuitive ways to reach specific content, but that remains to be seen.
  • Fixed a bug that has gone unnoticed for a long time, in the past the eyebrow color was connected to the hair color which led to a nonexistent image. The eyebrow color now points to the available eyebrow colors, and the hair color does not contain a buggy choice anymore.
  • Fixed some missing line breaks in passages found near the terminal passages.
  • Backgrounds are set to their proper place, the village has its own background, the lake has its own background, the forest has its own background, and the waterfall has its own background.
  • If you scroll down on the sidebar on the left, you will see a Settings button. If you click that in the first screens, you will see an option that once toggled will allow you to skip to latter passages (such as the one that pertains to the ending of the chapter, The Village).
  • Added a mantle outfit that can be seen in the game towards the end. This will be used in the next chapters too, not just in this chapter. I think it looks nice.

There are probably a few more changes that are not found in the patch notes, but I do not think they're very relevant since I do not remember them.

As of this release, according to the Twine statistics for this story there are 33371 words. It doesn't exactly mean that they unique or that they are not duplicated in some places (especially code), but it marks some progress in the content.

The current plans are to fix any bugs found this release in the 2 week timeframe I have before the release is public, so that hopefully the game will get more attention and it will allow me to spend even more time on it. I will look once again on whether the whitespace can be optimized in some places.

Below I will list what I have working for the Life Simulator component.

  • An interactive imagemap tutorial has been tested and it's working perfectly. Since you will be able to travel on your own, you will be able to open a map for let's say the village and if you hover over an area, you will see if it is clickable. If it is and you click it, it'll lead you to that location. Source  https://github.com/mikewesthad/twine-resources/tree/master/demos/html-maps
  • Time is working well, I have kept it to parts of a day like "morning", "sunset" and others because events would work smoother if there are no numbers involved. In the end, the game also counts how many days in the game passed since you started playing, so I will be able to use this for events.
  • The HP, Energy, and Lust bars are working and they just need to be integrated into a functional gameplay, and here comes the fight system which will need tinkering and feedback from the future polls.

with more to come, my first target will be to get a fun base-building system (the ability to use resources from quests to upgrade parts of your ship which will allow for more stuff later on)

Thank you for your patience. I hope you will like this release and if there's something you'd like to see changed in it, let me know and I'll try to get it done as soon as possible.
