I dont understand how people cannot see that both Joe and Ming are deeply damaged people with wounds they sustained long before they even met eachother. It doesnt excuse their behaviour, but I see where it comes from. Their combined red flag traits aligns perfectly in an incredible toxic way. Both are victims of childhood traumas and abuse in their adolescens. Joe: Anxious & insecure attachment issues originating from childhood trauma. Resulting in love bombing & disillusioned reality perception due to deep-seated self-esteem & ambandonment issues. He craves Ming’s affection and reads all kind acts as a show of love bc it makes him feel good. Ming: Groomed from a young age by a grown man till the point that Tong had full control over Ming’s responses. Emotional withdrawal neglect done by his parents and treated as a commodity to marry off for his parents power gains. This combined with his feeling of toxic entitlement and superiority due to his wealth and lack of consequences to his actions makes him lack empathy. He wants to own Joe bc Joe makes him feel good. There is no real love between any of them at this moment, but a joint fulfillment of a void created by CPTDS.

I have never read something so spot on before. I am in no way condoning what Ming did to Joe whatsoever, it was a horrible thing to do and it should have never happened like that. HOWEVER, Tong has manipulated Ming to the point that he knows what to say/do to get what he wants. He knew how he felt about him and also the history behind him (with parents and such) and used it to his advantage. I have never hated Ming for that reason, (I've been there, I know exactly how Ming feels) I could see that Tong was Ming's ringleader for the lack of a better term. Joe and Ming both need therapy and Tong should have been the one to fly off the cliff. (IMO)
