it's so wild how predictions can differ as much as opinions. you showed yours and i was expecting it to be similar and i was like "woah okay this is a whole other thing". generally for my predictions over the past few weeks, i've noticed there seems to a good six who are locked in for me in terms of edits/votes/performance etc. (sung hanbin, kim jiwoong, han yujin, kim gyuvin, zhang hao, seok matthew), although the remaining three fluctuate mainly between gunwook, keita, jay and any of a number of dark horse/not currently in the top 9 choices (my biggest predictions for this, if it happens, would be (and do excuse me for the slight copium) yoo seungeon, ollie, ricky or cong), just judging by the edits and the attention they’ve received so far online, on both the international and korean sides (seungeon seems to be gaining mad traction in korea). one thing i think is interesting is the discussion around gunwook. i can definitely see him making it, despite him not being one of my personal picks, as talent-wise he does have a very solid set of skills already, but i do think, even though a lot of people are coming around to him, his demeanour is still very off-putting for a lot of people and i think we’ll have to see a bit of a yaning-esque softening arc throughout the rest of the show for him to win everyone over. i also think it’s hilarious how ubiquitous the yuehuaz popularity is. it’s not unrealistic to predict five or six of the yuehua boys making it on the basis of talent and popularity and that’s kinda wild. the last time i remember such a single company’s trainees being so well-loved and dominant were the starship trainees in pdx101 and that wasn’t nearly on the same level. especially having three top 9 mainstays in hao, gyuvin and yujin. regardless, i could talk about this for hours so i’ll leave my thoughts there for now lmao, aside from promoting my three top picks (do i say one-picks or three-picks?) seungeon, ollie and cong!

i think there's just a large cultural difference that makes things a lot more difficult for g group. for k group they all grow up with generally the same values so discussions work out a lot smoother than g group which is a cluster of people from several different cultures, and that discord gets presented as g trainees being difficult to work with. both last season and now the chinese trainees tend to be more straightforward with their opinions to the point they get painted as combative, and it's soooo unfair to them... if you take away the cuts, replays, and zoom ins, all they usually do is share a raw difference in opinion. after this coming elimination i wish they finally drop the k vs g matchups because there are sooo many mixed teams i want to see and i feel like im being robbed of something greater lmfao

Thank you so much for your reaction! For the Hui edit, I totally agree with your thoughts. I kind of feel mnet has not fully decided what they want with Hui. Hui is clearly a show attractor, but not necessary someone mnet (or cube) wants in the final group. I think Hui is likely not on top of mnet's list, but also someone they are not against making into the final lineup (at least seem that way for now). From what I can tell, except for the very loyal universe, Hui may lack 1 pick power from the general viewers which makes me think that he is not as secured as others may think for the top 9 position. I really enjoy this episode and the show so far despite a few rough moments. Next week is gonna be heart broken no matter what but really excited for the next rounds as well. Thank you again for the amazing reaction

i actually despise how they did audience votes when the whole concept is g vs k like i kind of wish the masters decided between themselves, but "completely decided by the fans" is the whole point i guess. gyuvins one of my main picks but when he got 100 and haru, one of the best dancers in the show got 10.. yeah this concept is so unfair i'm expecting to have like 15 g group left by first elimination lol

This ep was hard to watch for me. Seeing G group get so decimated was hard and the tensions between some of the teams wasn't fun either, but at least Mnet showed it resolving. I agree with your point about the distribution of the final group. I would KILL for 5K4G because that is the best distribution we got, but I doubt it. I think a Kep1er distribution in 6K3G is most likely, but it'll be that or 7K2G, which might cause a riot so 6K3G is most likely. My realistic, rough draft top 9 is: Sung Hanbin, Kim Jiwoong, Han Yujin, Kim Gyubin, Seok Matthew, Zhang Hao, Lee Hoetaek. These 7 I'm pretty confident are at minimum making it to finale. Most iffy on Hui and Gyubin. I'm with you on Hui's editing, I don't think Mnet wants him in the group but they can't evil edit him cause it'll just backfire lol. I think Mnet wants Jay instead of Hui hence why they posted Love Me right G team a week before K. Gyubin has been getting edits but depending on how he's edited in future performances will determine his spot. He's popular, and that will carry him for now, but we have yet to see much from him. Last two are swing between Jay, Keita, Haruto(?), and other up and coming K trainees like Gunwook, Park Hanbin, Seunghwan, etc, basically other top 20 K trainees tbh. Prolly 1K and 1G from this, but could also be 2K. Idk where they stand yet, we'll have to see voting on ep 5 to see how high they rank, but I think they'll all do well and go far in the show.

My list of faves is about 20 guys, and I'm sure at least 5 of them will be going home at the first elimination. My top 9 (loosely in order) are Jay, Seok Matthew, Keita, Zhang Hao, Kim Tae Rae, Yoon Jong Woo, Ollie, Haruto, and Park Min Seok. Yoon Jong Woo and Park Min Seok are the most recent additions to the list. Yoon Jong Woo I could honestly see becoming my #1 in the future. Park Min Seok is here because I'm a sucker for a great leader (See Mashiro and Bora in GP999). I'm doing my best to fall in love with K-group members because they are more likely to debut, but I'm (obviously) pretty bad at it.
