Can't wait to watch another survival show with you! I loved watching live and then using your reactions to unpack girls planet a second time. I'm sad my 1pick got hit with the double whammy of "nervous voice break" and "edited out of the show save for some commentary and the bad vocal montage" LMAO. I'm already rooting for a Chinese vocalist, so it wasn't looking good before because mnet is mnet but now I'm extra nervous. Hopefully he gets a chance to do his comeback/improvement arc. Not to #promote my guy anyways, but Wen Yechen is really talented and despite fucking up (he was the main vocal of Call Me Baby) he's an incredible vocalist who was even a JYP trainee before leaving for China. The issue is the guy went on Youth With You and had an insane improvement arc from F class to B? class, gained a lot of longtime fans, especially in China who've been waiting for him, then left his shitty company and started attending university full time. So he hasn't done much of anything in terms of performing and singing for like three years straight, then came back to Korea as an independent trainee and jumped into this show. I don't blame him at all for being nervous and out of practice. I've seen what he's done in the past when he's fully in shape as a trainee and I believe that once he gets back into things he could be a real powerhouse. (If anyone is curious about him, he's the guy in the pink shirt that did Highlight with Minghao! And he was part of "Ears" team on YWY.) Anyways, with that out of the way... I think there's a solid chance half the things Hui does in this show are going to make me tear up. I just want the best for him, man. Whether that's debuting in the final group or just staying in long enough to garner attention for himself and PTG. Whatever he wants, I want so badly to help him get it. On a lighter note, the show opening with mnet going WE ARENT RIGGING WE CHECKED PLEASE BELIEVE US THERE IS NO RIGGING PLEASE made me laugh irl when watching the first time. Also the Jellyfish dudes have totally won me over already. They're so charismatic and funny already, I see why the cameras like them. Especially Gunwook! That kid looks like he raised himself on VIXX and Monsta X lmao. Editing this on since I just finished rewatching! Yeah, CUBE and YG are the same for me in that they train INSANE idols and trainees, but they also notoriously fumble the bag so hard with keeping/debuting them. YG has let a good chunk of trainees go of both genders, but Treasure at least debuted/platformed a lot of them and we've seen them disperse to other companies since. But the female trainees they've let go over the years because they just kept fucking up their new girl group lineups has been insane. And CUBE... definitely have lost so many insane male trainees, especially after they fucked over Kuanlin post-Wanna One and their 4th gen BG fell through.

I watched this episode yesterday - fastest two hours of my life, I'm already so invested LMAO Even though Mnet is obviously playing up the whole "K Group vs. G Group" thing, I'm really glad to see that the contestants have more of a friendly competition/healthy rivalry going on (as they usually do lol) Matthew's been one of my top picks since the first of the promotional content started coming out, really glad to see he's getting a decent chunk of screentime so far 😂 I had the same reaction when I saw ph-1 and Lip J come out - they really said legends only 😂 Honestly, throughout this episode Lip J just looked like she was having the best time and I love that for her Don't even get me STARTED on Jay because oh my GOD he's so good jfc Some of my favorite rappers from the promotional stuff (or at least the ones who showcased their abilities in their intro videos) were Gunwook and Ollie - can't wait to see Gunwook (hopefully) rap later on, and I'm glad to see Ollie being decently popular so far! He did a little bit of Eminem's Rap God in an intro video and just...these kids are so talented dude. Excited to watch everyone's journey and get my emotions played with, let's gooo (already got me crying over Hui, like damn y'all it's only the first episode 💀💀💀)

I honestly wouldn't have written up my little promo thing for him in here if he didn't have such a terrible combo of events in the first episode 😭 It's one thing to have a rough voice crack/off-key performance but have it stay in and take the critique (which he did and mnet DID leave in him saying he's going to internalize the judgment and work hard and show improvement!) but it's another when they show him messing up but cut him out except for the worst part of his vocals and him saying he'll try to grow, which is like ~10 seconds maximum of screentime. At least leaving it in would leave an impression on people who don't know him! But sadly I'm aware there's only so much screentime to dole out at this stage in the game. I feel like I have to go GUYS LOOK AT HIM HE ISN'T PERFECT BUT HE'S THERE to make up for it lol. He ranked top 10 for overall fancam views and has a decently stable Chinese fanbase supporting him so I'm just hoping he makes it past round 1 where screentime can be freed up a bit more and he hopefully gets to improve like he says.

Matthew is so cute!! I didn't pay attention to him before the show but episode 1 put him fully in my top 9. I don't know what I was expecting from him but I was SOOO happy during his stage. I have a gut feeling because of his history with Hanbin, they might get the Soulmates/Destiny Storyline assuming it isn't an episode 1 exclusive moment they had.

Sung Hanbin has NO RIGHT stealing my heart like this in the first episode. I always knew he was talented, but he's kind, he's a versatile dancer AND he's charming?! Also Jayyyy with the vocals!! Gyuvin and Yujin with the dancing! And Matthew and Hui, my sweet summer children. Only 9 can make it? :'(
