Just wanna clarify what I was talking about with the Yujin dis because I feel like it could be taken the wrong way. I don't think what was said was good and I don't think it was the smartest and definitely not the kindest idea BUT I understand and (to a degree) respect the motivation behind it. I maintain that I don't think there's any malicious intent behind it. Doesn't mean I necessarily condone it, I just don't think it's something worth dragging a person over the coals for. We'll see how things play out in the rest of the show though and hopefully mnet doesn't keep this thing going any longer than it needs to (though lbr they probably will)

Yeah, so a lot of international and Korean fans don’t like Fu YaNing because she was technically being disrespectful to a senior but a lot of international fans already didn’t like her because she’s sang the n-word more than once and kinda only recently apologized because it’s gonna impact the vote. The whole cell thing sucks because whoever she’s grouped with will likely suffer because of what she said before they were even on the show.

Good to know. I went into this totally blind so didn't know any of that stuff but I'll keep that all in mind and look into it myself before the next ep

I think Fu YaNing (Jessie Fu in YWY 2) Shows a little bit much of prepotency, and Idk if Mnet gonna pass those kind of behavior, also i don't think the cell thing is a bad, i'm sure the bests of the cells helps the less best to train and improve... iT's there some interesting cells for instance, Xu Ziyin (Roada Xu in YWY 2), Choi Yu Jin (CLC) and Okazaki Momoko (BabyMetal Avenger)

The girl who performed K/DA with 1st and 2nd girls from K group seemed familiar to me as well and after thinking about it she reminds me of Yoojung from OnlyOneOf but it might be just bcs im obsessed with him judge for yourself lol

i swore imma not watch any mnet survival show but here i am starting in 3, 2, 1..

Hoping Seungeun will turn some heads with her performance next episode 🙏

I like Kamaguchi Yurina, the one who is the most stable from the Fancy performance. She's an insomnia and she sing a bit of Lulaby in the intro clip. I hope as well than Yujin don't cry because something happen

Fu Yaning made a couple snarky comments here and there throughout the ep. She'd literally just been introduced and already felt like she needed to say one of the girls in her 'All Rounder' cell " didn't look like one at all. She just has bad attitude imo and her facial expressions show exactly what's on her mind.. plus there's the whole racism stuff..

Not gonna lie, I'm mostly gonna start this to follow Momoko...gotta support our avenger....but it's gonna be interesting to see if/which other girls are gonna stand out to me :)

I'm so glad you're doing a watch through of this, I love hearing your opinions so much that I watched all 2.5 hours a second time lol. While I definitely have a few issues with the show, I still very much enjoyed it, and that was because of how wonderful all the girls are. My biggest issue so far is the editing, especially after watching the unedited performances on Youtube. For example, for that Black Mamba performance the voice crack was not nearly as bad as the edited version made it out to be, and I was actually really impressed with that girl, and now feel like she got really screwed over by mnet. So I just have to keep that in mind when watch the full episodes going forward. So far my favorite of the girls that performed was Youngeun from the Kick It stage, the one with the powerful glare, I was just captivated by her. I also really liked Suyeon from the Pop/stars stage, and Yeseo from the Baby Monster stage, who I was already familiar with from Busters. She was just so professional and an amazing dancer, she was very impressive. The Baby Monster stage was definitely my favorite as well, all the girls killed it. Quick shout out to the twins who were hilarious and adorable. The older of the twins had the funniest introduction video on the mnet youtube channel imo. So they may not be great singers, but they are entertaining as hell lol. Lastly, as far as the whole Fu Yaning, I understand why she did what she did. It gave her the attention she wanted so I guess it paid off in that regard, but I also dont think she made herself out to be very likeable, so I'm curious how her voting will go. Personally, I wasnt a fan of her going after Yujin, it turned me off of her right away and I'd have a hard time voting for someone like that no matter how talented they are. We'll see what happens though. I'm definitely very excited for the next episode and like you, I really hope Yujin crying is because she did really well. Definitely a lot of performances I'm really looking forward also.

Everyone is already talking about it but yeah that girl is already known as a problem for plenty of reasons so I’m not gonna mention it Chinese idols are more like that than Japanese or Korean ones probably has to do with the Chinese culture and the way they’re raised in that super prideful way of the Chinese obviously not all Chinese are disrespectful like that because elkie and dongie exist but from watching so much variety content from those 3 countries it’s usually the Chinese ones who are very disrespectful but it’s important not to judge them all like that based on a few of the bad apples. Everyone is different so I’ve already got a few faves from all 3 yujin obviously one of them

I agree with you about Fu Yaning her intentions werent malicious you could tell she really wanted to show competitiveness and maybe spark a rivalry in the show. She's been in a survival show already before hand she knows the ropes and whats good marketing. In Youth with you season 3 one of the contestants rose to 2nd place after a clear rivalry was made between him and 1st place. The chinese audience love a good rivalry and its normalised in cpop to be solo stans for groups since either way they rarely make content as a full group its a lot of individual promotions. I think Fu Yaning didnt consider how differently global fans might view her actions which now sadly has given her a lot of haters but I think she acted the way she did because she wanted to take a risk even knowing it may backfire. Her courage to start a rivalry right away earns my respect I know if this was in one of the chinese survival shows she would go far in the competition because of this but i'm not so sure how she will do for a koreon one.. entertainment wise I want her to go far as it will make this survival show more fun to watch with a little rivalry in it

Yarden00

Also I don’t think Fu Yaning will get the ideal rivalry she wants I don’t think Yuijin wants the same she seems like she was trying to avoid it completely. She seems very sweet and I don’t think that sort of competitive stuff would be in her nature anyways so its gonna come off as almost bullying almost to viewers😂 Fu Yaning is gonna try and make Yuijin join in on the rivalry but she’ll probably avoid it completely lol anyways I’m interested to see how this plays out if Yaning stays longer

I've been a big Yeseo stan ever since she was in Busters, like, she's in my top 10 idols kinda thing, so when she left I was pretty heartbroken, and seeing her be almost completely silent from then until now, I always wanted to know what she was up to and whether she was happy. I'm so happy to see her, you have no idea and she's absolutely killing it.

Jinso Kim

I kinda wanted you to not watch this but watch this at the same time..lol. The quality won't be as good as pd series since most of agencies didn't send their trainees due to the scandal. The show is getting so many criticism in korea too for various reasons. But i'm gonna watch it and support them anyway, because i feel sorry for Yujin, Doa and many other trainees who had to join the show.

Oh my god, that girl from the baby group was in Miracle in Cell no. 7. That movie made me cry SO MUCH.

I already love this show a lot and i'm definitly here for the girls as well, all of them are really talented and adorable i had such a good time For the Fu Yaning situation (not even mentioning the whole racist controversy), I really dont care about motivation or what she meant.. for me what you put out there is what matters and saying that stuff to an industry senior is not it, you never ever bring someone down to bring someone else up i'm never gonna be able to respect that tbh. On top of that she's been making other shady remarks in the episode (like to Shana from her own cell??) so i dont buy her excuses, its an overall attitude problem (personal preferences obv some ppl like that in contestants, I personally dont) Tbh its the first time im seeing a contestant spark the controversy and mnet try to "edit it better" they really had to make a whole edit of cgirls being "bad" to prop her group up (from the uncut versions you can see the wannabe girls and even twinkle weren't half as bad as they made them out to be and some of the girls even got top9 stickers that they didnt show!! with knetz already hating the cgroup it was easy to make them look bad) plus yujin being a total sweetheart she didnt buy into the shadiness which i respect a lot, I hope and trust she did well also Can't wait for the next ep as my main pick will be performing!

My take on Fu Yaning...

1. Starting with her past use of the N word -- that's not just a Chinese problem as someone mentioned above. Many Korean singers have done the same when covering songs that use the word. I don't expect, although I do wish, for all people around the world to understand the long racial connotation of that word and the damage it causes. It seems unrealistic to expect singers who are already limited in their schooling (often not always) to understand the larger issue.

2. I think she did try and take the focus off her teammates by taking shots at Yujin. This is actually a super common move in sports. Managers of teams will often take a shot at an opposing team and put all the pressure on themselves and not their players. While I'd like to say that this isn't the same because it's not a competition, it is quite literally a major competition worth potentially millions to whomever gets in. Taking the pressure early could backfire since she needs to be popular too. I just don't want this show to become some nationalistic chest thumping competition. I was worried about it with Produce48 and thankfully each time we got close either by luck, editing, or whatever, the show steered clear of an all out jingoistic PR nightmare.
