When the delicate equilibrium of nature is perturbed, it sets forth turbulent ripples, especially within the realm of the fey. The enigmatic blessings bestowed by Meliae unwittingly attracted malevolent spirits from the Feywild. Among them, a sinister entity known as the Nalkah emerged, drawn by the allure of such power. Scholars have long debated its classification, torn between labelling it a fey or an undead aberration due to its uncanny traits.

Those unfortunate enough to cross paths with Nalkah suffer not only physical wounds but also the insidious afflictions of supernatural diseases and parasitic infestations. Mortals succumb to these maladies, only to rise anew as lesser spirits of decay, the Ivings.
