Hello, supporters. Yesterday, I lost power due to Ian deciding to make a stop by Jay's house. I guess he's a fan. Then, in the middle of the night, my new generator stopped working and kicked out an error code that'll require warranty service.

I'm without power, though I still have the internet through my modem/router running off one of my large camping batteries.

I can stay connected a bit, but I can't get work done. This means the update on the 5th might not have the quantity of finished pages I'd intended.

Everything else is fine and there's no damage. I'll let you know when things get back to normal.

Take care of yourself first! Thank you for the update!

Stay safe! Also, remember your car can act as a (really inefficient) generator in a pinch if you REALLY need it.

Be safe, the work can wait. Your safety and health come first

James

Central Floridian here as well. Thanks for the update, stay safe, and take the time you need

Fanjangil

Sucks you _stayed_ down, but at least you get to figure out your generator now instead of when an actually hurricane hits your side of the state. I'm still up; dodged a bullet honestly, hit south of us.

Shit happens. Stay safe.

Can Iask what the generator was, curious to see which one died so early.

Ed Daniels

No worries, glad you ok, stay safe

jaynaylor

It was a Generac. Kicking back a 1902 undervoltage error after working fine for some hours.

Steve

The problem with more self monitoring technology is that sometimes it will make things stop working when there is no real issue. The old generators would work to the point of self destruction if whoever running it failed to notice an issue, but would not stop working due to a stupid code. The new electronic monitoring does increase efficiency though. Also, maybe the shut off was warranted due to an actual issue, but that is its own problem. Does seem like a new generator should not fail so quickly either by false error or real issue.

Hope things work out on your end, dude. Guess the universe wanted to give you a break from posting lol

Kilo_coywolf

Just glad you're ok. Stay safe👍

It's literally a cat4 hurricane. Take a minute. Be safe. Be well.

This is a very common sentiment....and one I've never understood. Why is continuing to work until the product destroys itself or damages the property surrounding it preferable to it locking down when there's an issue? Like, I know it's annoying for things to stop working when they look fine. But you know what else is annoying? Buying a new one when you could replace a 5 USD component...or your residence catching on fire.

Doomslayer69

Stay safe dude and hope you get all your power back soon

Egor A. Palchyk

No need to apologize. We appreciate the update and wish for you to stay safe.

Reptiles of Lustria

Stay safe and warm Jay! Oh wait sorry I'm in Canada. I guess warm isn't too much of a concern. No need to apologize nature happens. Please take care of yourself and we don't mind if there is a delay if you want to finish more pages and put it out later when you can.

Reptiles of Lustria

Egor - so here's the problem. In situations where an emergency happens and you desperately need power for example here in Northern Canada if winter happens and there is a power outage and you are relying on a generator and it doesn't work then you have the very real chance of freezing to death. I would rather take the chance of it running and possibly self-destructing then it's not running and me unable to get a part and being found slump frozen over my generator. The problem is the parts are not handy. Now if any technologically supply generator came with an entire bag of spare parts for parts that are common failures that would be a different matter but of course they don't.

Laxxly

It's okay Jay. We totally understand. Take your time you need.

KungFooTek

We make a point to run our generator for a couple hours every quarter and make sure it's serviced regulalry even though it may not be in use. Better to find the problems when it's not needed than the other way around.

jaynaylor

It self tests every week. It was fine for a few hours and decided not to be when I was asleep.

Kuratenshi

Safety over productivity. Be well Jay

Spectre

That sucks that you go through the trouble of being prepared, and that fault hits anyway. Glad you’re safe otherwise ^.^ art stuff can wait.

Justin Stout

Well now I know what state you're in and roughly where in that state you are.

Antarctican

Good to hear that you are Okay. Now for the bigger problem: Deciding which piece of meat in the freezer to BBQ first. Thankfully due to your “Old School” drawing skills you can remain productive and work on story lines etc. Take care.

Amadose

Stay safe!!

Kellerkind1931

Stay safe and hopefully things getting well soon.

Sagher

Agreed. Especially since he’s already mentioned this before.

ghostman

Stay safe out there!

Spyke

Ian was very inconsiderate and damn, nothing like a backup generator failing on you when you need it...

Steve

The other issue is not the generator shutting itself off while it has a real problem that is going to break the device. The other thing that happens is their is a perceived problem that is either minor or non existent and is a sensor issue. Then you have a perfectly fine generator that doesn't work.

rah

Stay safe, man. You don’t want to pull a Wet Dorothy, and end up isekai’d in a fur ladened version of Georgia. Imagine how long the title of the novel would be…

Ok, everything is very clear. Power failure happens frequently, don't worry about it. Hope everything will be ok soon!

Life and safety always has priority. Stay safe there.

Stay safe out there, man. Either way, I give it a week and we'll hear legends of the new king of the gators.

I hope you are doing well!. Thanks for reporting the problem. Take care of yourself and stay in touch!

Da-yum about the generator. A hurricane is definitely not the time you want to find out about one having problems.
