Apparently Patreon is experiencing a higher than normal number of card declines, this month. Who knows why. I know from experience sometimes CC processors are strange. If you find yourself declined for whatever reason, you can try to recreate your pledge or move to another payment, or clear it as non-fraud with your bank or something.

Just passing on the info!

Thank you for the info, Jay.

One of the other patreon I back said something about the company transfering to the U.K.

I get a mail in the morning, I changed the payment method from CC to PayPal ...

Chase is flagging Patreon as possible fraud this month for some reason. Woke up to a bunch of alerts from them this morning and had to confirm that my Patreon pledges weren't fraud. Hopefully this is a one time thing. So any card issued by Chase may have declined Patreon if the person didn't respond in time.

Bank of America also. Apparently it's due to patreon moving their processing center, or the charge origin or something. I told it to resubmit the charge after telling my bank it wasn't fraud and it went through immediately.

Bryant Holmes

If we resubmit our payment successfully already, will we still receive our monthly rewards?

Steve O

I received a text from Citi flagging Patreon as a scam. I authorized the transaction, but I bet it showed some flavor of "declined" until I Ok'd it.

Michael J Simmons

Had a decline notice through Wells Fargo, but mine was just do to my own stupid budgeting. Will get my dogs in order and have payment into you.

James

Yeah, my bank said they put a hold on it do to it being a foreign charge. Quick call and the hold was removed.

Shuken Flash

That would explain why Chase said that everything from patreon suddenly seems like possible fraud

DMRLR

Mine called Patreon a questionable site. Changed over to Paypal

I haven't received any notification from my bank and my pledges are marked as completed. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones? Maybe it's because my bank is a Credit Union?

jaynaylor

Well yeah, since I post them instead of send them out by notes you should be able to scroll down and get the rewards as soon as your new pledge is established.

My BoA based charges for the Patreon accounts I'm supporting went through just fine. Who the heck knows.

Bryant Holmes

Oh right yeah, I should have actually figured that. Sorry I got promoted to managing a night shift and I'm useless in the mornings now. XD

Basically, they use AI's now for a lot of this stuff, my wife was also ordering a bunch of our merch for a furcon we run from various Chinese companies so it flagged a ton of international stuff suddenly.

I saw this and so far it has had no effect on me. I am not sure if it's a rumor or not.

PayPal has decided to quit completing ALL payments to NSFW Patreon pledges. Supporters need to adjust their payment methods. Also, Patreon recently switched their payment processing to the UK. Without any advanced warning. Many declined transactions due to perceived fraudulent looking charges. This will require manual review on the part of supporters.

And yet, despite my pledge(s) being declined I seem to have acess to all the pledge-exclusive content I paid for prior. What is going on here?

jaynaylor

According to Patreon they're continuing to retry declined transactions, so maybe a retry was approved?

This problem actually triggered a bank account freeze with Bank of America - They paused by debit card as part of their consumer protection program. I have a suspicion this is something more than just a problem with cc processing sadly.

My billing history says, all my pledges were paid. They all read "completed". (Am I the only one that got that???)

yamaraj

i heard patreon moved their payment processing over to europe so all the american cards are flagging it as fraud the charge even has a different name now

William F Rust

Same BofA read as foreign account I confirmed bwent through second time no prob

Boxleitner

Yep. My bank also declined Patreon and said they did so because it's an international transaction.

Boxleitner

I called the bank and Patreon reinstated me to your pledges, Jay. Should work for everyone. :)

My bank declined this month for the first time ever, and I've had monthly Patreon payments for at least a year. I think most of the banks probably wholesale their fraud detection algorithms from one or two providers.

GoddessMar

I ended up changing mine to PayPal for my Payments.

Polybun

we're good yo.

Ronnie

no problem here

I have a prepaid debit card that I use for my Patreon payments. I got locked out of my account and when I called, I was informed that it was due to suspicious activity on my debit card. When I asked about it, I was told that the suspicious activity was Patreon. I informed the person I was talking to that I had had Patreon on my card for WELL over a year and couldn't understand why, all of a sudden, it was considered suspicious activity. They released my account after that little explanation.

I love the email they sent out with instructions that only half work and don't actually explain what happened. Further it is shady as hell to tell me yeah so that charge from us, yeah it was flagged as fraud, go tell your bank it isn't fraud, you know because. That is the type of thing I expect from someone trying to poorly scam me.

Kahluapuffs

Sadly, I was one of the ones whose card was declined. At least my bank is good about notifying me with potential fraud so I could fix the issue relatively quickly.

Tried to join you today, only to get declined, only until found I out I actually have to have a balance in my Paypal was I able to join.
