Grand Utopia of America - Status of the project? (Patreon)

Hello dear utopians,

For this week, I'd like to inform you that this article will take the place of our usual weekly report. I've got some important news to share about the exciting progress of this project, so let's dive straight into this rather special post! 📢😄

Over the last few days, my wife and I have been working on the logo for my next big project for American Truck Simulator: Grand Utopia of America. As some of you already know, I'm gradually putting the foundations of this mod in place so that I can offer you a first trial version sometime in 2024. 😄

To keep you up to date, let's take a look at the progress already made.

The archipelago

I carefully selected the island that will embody our American archipelago, which happens to be the Sulawesi Island in Indonesia in real life. In the game, thanks to the scale I've chosen, you'll be able to enjoy a vast playable territory covering around 120x120 km, offering an exceptional gaming experience. 😄

Compatibility with the Esterlon map from Team Reforma

I've received a lot of feedback from you about the atmosphere that will be created for our American utopia, and I'd like to express my sincere gratitude. It's always a source of joy to see the commitment of the Patreon community to my projects! 😄

I have carefully considered all your comments, and after many stimulating discussions and careful consideration, I have decided that Grand Utopia of America will become an independent fictional country with its own distinct culture. This culture will be strongly inspired by Americanism, if not totally imbued with that influence.
Esterlon, by contrast, is a mixture of European and American cultures, with units of measurement in kilometres per hour, distances in kilometres, and so on.

Although Grand Utopia of America is an independent country, that doesn't mean our utopia has to remain isolated. That's why I decided to accept the proposal from Team Reforma, led by Eblem, to make our archipelago compatible with their fictional country. Work has therefore recently been carried out to adjust the location of our archipelago in relation to their (very large) island and I can now confirm that everything is ready to start mapping what will be the very first utopian village in America. 💛

The logo

Finally, with the help of my lovely half, we came up with a brand new logo to embody and represent our American utopia. The big difficulty was not to give in to the desire to use an American flag because, as mentioned in the lore that you have of course all read on my website 😏, the Grand Utopia of America will be a country, independent of the United States, even if both its population and its government identify themselves as the 51st state of the American federation. 😅😂

So we opted for an alternative American emblem, the eagle 🦅, which we harmoniously combined with the colours of the US flag. To make this logo stand out as the official flag of our American utopia, we came up with the idea of adding a motto: "In Dreams We Trust". My wife and I thought this was the perfect motto to represent our utopia, while at the same time making a subtle nod to the official American motto, "In God We Trust".

We sincerely hope you like this logo. It's certainly more basic than the Grand Utopia one, but I'm convinced that it will lend itself perfectly to its role as the emblem of our American utopia. I can already see it floating atop government buildings. 🏛😃

Availability date

I can't close this article without mentioning the long-awaited availability of this mod. For the sake of clarity, I'm going to start work on this mod in the coming weeks. My aim is to offer you a first version during 2024, ideally before the summer arrives. I can't guarantee you a large-scale map from the outset, but as the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day". Remember the first version of Grand Utopia, which only included 5 communes!

Finally, as indicated on my Patreon, this map will be available in early access exclusively for Globetrotter level members, in a similar way to Mygotopia.

Grand Utopia of America - Où en est le projet ?

Pour cette semaine, je tiens à vous informer que cet article prendra la place de notre rapport hebdomadaire habituel. J'ai d'importantes nouvelles à partager concernant l'avancement passionnant de notre projet, alors plongeons directement dans ce post un peu spécial ! 📢😄

Ces derniers jours, ma femme et moi avons travaillé sur le logo de mon futur gros projet pour American Truck Simulator : Grand Utopia of America. Comme certains le savent déjà, je commence petit à petit à mettre en place les base de ce mod afin de pouvoir être capable de vous proposer une première version d'essai courant 2024 😄

Pour vous tenir un peu au courant, faisons le tour des avancées déjà réalisées.

L'archipel

J'ai minutieusement sélectionné l'île qui incarnera notre archipel américain, qui se trouve être l'île de Célèbes en Indonésie dans la réalité. Dans le jeu, grâce à l'échelle que j'ai choisie, vous profiterez d'un vaste territoire jouable s'étendant sur environ 120x120 km, offrant ainsi une expérience de jeu exceptionnelle. 😄

Compatibilité avec la map Esterlon de la Team Reforma

J'ai reçu un grand nombre de retours de votre part concernant l'atmosphère qui sera créée pour notre utopie américaine, et je tiens à vous exprimer ma sincère gratitude. C'est toujours une source de joie de constater l'engagement de la communauté Patreon dans mes projets ! 😄

J'ai attentivement pris en considération toutes vos remarques, et après de nombreuses discussions stimulantes et des réflexions approfondies, j'ai pris la décision que Grand Utopia of America deviendra un pays fictif indépendant avec sa propre culture distincte. Cette culture sera fortement inspirée par l'américanisme, voire totalement imprégnée de cette influence.
À contrario et pour rappel, Esterlon est un mélange de cultures européenne et américaine, avec des unités de mesure en kilomètres par heure, des distances en kilomètres, etc.

Bien que Grand Utopia of America soit un pays indépendant, cela ne signifie pas que notre utopie doive rester isolée. C'est pourquoi j'ai décidé d'accepter la proposition de la Team Reforma, portée par Eblem, visant à rendre notre archipel compatible avec leur pays fictif. Un travail a donc été mené tout récemment pour ajuster la localisation de notre archipel par rapport à leur (très grande) île et je peux à présent vous confirmer que tout est prêt pour attaquer le mapping de ce qui sera le tout premier village utopien d'Amérique. 💛

Le logo

Enfin, aidée par ma tendre moitiée, nous avons réfléchis à un tout nouveau logo pour incarner et représenter notre utopie américaine. La grosse difficulté a été de ne pas céder à l'envie d'utiliser un drapeau américain car, comme évoqué dans le lore que vous avez bien entendu tous lu sur mon site internet 😏, la Grande Utopie d'Amérique sera un pays, indépendant des États-Unis, même si tant sa population que son gouvernement s'identifient comme étant le 51e État de la fédération américaine. 😅😂

Nous avons donc opté pour un emblème américain alternatif, l'aigle 🦅, que nous avons harmonieusement associé aux couleurs du drapeau des États-Unis. Pour que ce logo puisse également être considéré comme le drapeau officiel de notre utopie américaine, l'idée d'y ajouter une devise nous est venue : "In Dreams We Trust" (Aux rêves, nous croyons). Ma femme et moi avons trouvé cette devise parfaite pour représenter notre utopie, tout en faisant un subtil clin d'œil à la devise américaine officielle, "In God We Trust" (En Dieu, nous croyons)."

Nous espérons de tout cœur que vous apprécierez ce logo. Il est certes plus basique que celui de Grand Utopia mais je suis convaincu qu'il se prêtera parfaitement à son rôle d'emblème de notre utopie américaine. Je l'imagine déjà flotter au sommet des bâtiments gouvernementaux 🏛😃

Date de disponibilité

Je ne saurais clore cet article sans aborder la question de la disponibilité tant attendue de ce mod. Pour apporter de la clarté, je vais entamer le travail sur ce mod dans les semaines à venir. Mon objectif est de vous proposer une première version courant 2024, idéalement avant l'arrivée de l'été. Je ne peux pas vous garantir une carte de grande envergure dès le départ, mais comme le dit le proverbe, "Rome ne s'est pas construite en un jour". Rappelez-vous de la première version de Grand Utopia qui ne comportait alors que 5 communes !

Enfin, comme indiqué sur mon Patreon, cette map sera disponible en accès anticipé exclusivement pour les membres du niveau Globetrotter, à l'instar de Mygotopia.
