Zander gets an A- for inspirational words but a C- for effort on his lock-picking skills. I may have to take back what I said on him having more adventuring skills than puzzle solving.

Now let's be fair, picking a lock with a hairpin isn't easy. And you should give him credit for taking the initiative to escape, trying to lockpick and having more than one hairpin for the express purpose if the first one breaks. He may not be a proper adventurer yet but he's working on it.
