Hey, everyone! I have a number of fun things for you today.

Blueprints: Check out the new blueprints for Theo and Nauda as of the end of TWC3. Hopefully everything is clear enough, though I wondered about using unique symbols versus general purpose indicators, especially as the blueprints get bigger. Fiyu doesn't get an update, as her unknowns remain unknown and adding a blank second floor isn't very exciting.

Covers: These are the three that I plan to run with, so hopefully everyone finds them tolerable. I know some people want me to remake the first book in the "table" style, but I'd like to at least run with this one for a while. Especially since all of you gave so much feedback on the iterations!

Plans: This series has been held back first by lack of covers, then my busy schedule. Both factors are finally fading, so I hope that I'll be able to publish them soon. Obviously my fingers are crossed that the release of sequels will help establish the series, but regardless of how well they do, TWC4 is close to ready and I'll fulfill my promises for the series. I have two questions for you now:

1) Would you prefer that chapters of TWC4 start up earlier and be interrupted by the TWC2-3 launches, or start later after those launches? There's some ambiguity in the schedule, so I'm looking for general preferences.

2) The version on RoyalRoad is currently stuck at just the first two books. After the release of the second, I intend to check the analytics and make decisions about posting there. One possibility is to do a sprint of TWC3 chapters (perhaps one a day) to lead up to that release. I may cease posting there, though other authors have spoken about how that invites retaliation. Anyone who is a RR user or has thoughts, feel free to chime in.

Anyway, this has been a quieter month, but August should be a more exciting one along multiple dimensions. Thanks for your support!

I don't know what the length of the launch breaks would be but I wanna read 4s chapters now :D

Earlier release please!

So for the first question I think having a pause for the release of twc 2 and 3 would be best. It would give us some chapters sooner. And while I would normally be fine with just waiting, but I'm so excited for book 4 that I'm fine with a break in the middle.

I'm ready for more as soon as possible. I wish I could offer some advice about RR, that's how I was led to this series and wanting to read more of the story sooner led me to the Patreon. Honestly RR is mostly disappointing trying to find good stories like Weirkey. I think how the mechanics of the site work lead to a lot of authors with even decent ideas stretching out their stories, taking them in weird directions narratively and creating a ton of filler. That's just my two cents though.

I think starting books 4 chapters sooner is good. I would also keep putting stuff on RR; I'm not sure anyone who is going to buy a book won't BC some content of on RR

I want to see more as soon as possible. I'd keep posting on RR, it's drawing more people to your work I think. The norm is to give a warning and take things down once published. I do think more people are going to want to know how to continue the series, so if you don't post it there, at least give them a link to Amazon for the next book or what have you as a post.

Pete

Some who are successful probably stretch it out because of that but much is likely just writing without much of a plan

Robin

Please do post more TWC as soon as you feel conferable with. Do keep posting on RR that's where I found your story in the first place.

Robin

keeping posting is rewarded via the trending system by RR though so that does invite one to keep going even without a set plan.

sarahlin

Yeah, there will undoubtedly be some sort of notification to readers there.

If you inform RR that you will have a break before posting new chapters for the new book, but do a sprint and make comments and read the comments of people on RR I believe that encourages engagement- many of my patrons I transitioned from RR based on their comments in the preface / post story notes for the chapters. It’s a bit extra work but you could translate more RR people to Patreon. Typically referencing how many more chapters are on Patreon to royal road could help too

My oh my, look at that brutalist structure. I'd say it needs more gargoyles and spikes, but that is just my aesthetic. For some reason I thought Theo would have a more sci fi build considering the gravity/singularity stuff, but I guess he isn't that kind of nerd. Do advanced soulcrafters have, like, wizard towers in there? Like the eye of sauron or floating crystals in the air above?

Lamsey

The styling of the blueprints isn't necessarily canon - I just experimented with different styles for the different characters. Theo's is kinda like an old Victorian-era architect's drawing, Nauda has a more hand-drawn look, and Fiyu has a more abstract design with different materials set into an etched plate. I've confirmed things like room layout and sizes with Sarah, but any specific bits of styling aren't necessarily the real deal.

sarahlin

Advanced soulcrafting can get pretty crazy, so all of that is entirely possible.

I’m all for new content as sooner even if it means interruptions later.
