This is a patron exclusive and part of a funding goal, no poll here. (Can't control if the link gets spread around.) Anyway, I'm sharing this video to illustrate that I have a tough time even with the simple illustrations, because 90% of art is contextual decision making. I think a lot of artists get comfortable, and draw or paint the same thing so often that they can bang things out in 20 minutes. I like to challenge myself, and try things that are inherently uncomfortable. Changing the character design, putting them in a tight space, and having a good composition were what made this a challenge. I ran in to a lot of problems trying to maintain the perspective and size relationships. At times it seems like Yuri is a giant. I also have no idea how to get Kei's facial features right, and the pose for Yuri changes a few times because I want her to be recognizable. There is also a lot of working and reworking of the feet. I've also never really drawn Yuri, so I had to take it slow with her to make sure she was on par with Kei. The video is sped up 400%.
