So I made a few adjustments to this and added more detail.

1. Changed the color of her hair.
While this character is an amalgam of my favorite female characters in comics and anime, I wound up not liking her original hair color. Originally her hair was pink to pay tribute to Baiken from Guilty Gear. After a discussion and some feedback on Discord, a lot of people seemed to like her more with this Brown/Auburn hair color. I personally like it. It's more realistic. Hair is usually used to differentiate human characters, but since it will mostly be her and other aliens, it isn't necessary to give her a wild anime hair color.

2. Changed the color of her costume.
So I did some illustrations of her, and found that since this is a comic that takes place in space, any time there was a shot of her in space, she'd disappear in to the background because her costume was pure black. Plus the contrast of the pure black against the pure white was very hard to look at. So I went with a neutral blue tone.

Sam's hair is only poofy like Kei's thanks to the interface clamps she's wearing. (Those clamps are obviously inspired by Asuka.) These clamps release nanites which cover and protect her skin. The nanites also create an invisible scaffold and the current between them are what keep her hair aloft. When she's not wearing the clamps, her hair bends to the will of gravity more readily. Though, it still has a bit of poofyness to it.

This character sheet and sample sheet will grow as I work more on the character. Eventually it will include expressions and a 3/4.

One thing that I hope comes across is that her hair style, while inspired by Kei from dirty pair flash, has its own unique elements. Such as its asymmetric distribution of poofs. There are two poofs that run along the right side of her face. This is a good way to orient the character.
