With loads of assets to use in the level editor and Wardrobe, we've been racking our brains for a straightforward way to unlock max customization for them all.

We've recently decided the best (and most efficient) way to handle recoloring and Swatches was to combine them into one tool! With the Design Tool, you can simply click any asset to open its appearance page. From there, you can recolor it or choose from any alternate textures - when available.

As huge fans of customization, we've been so excited to develop this new feature, and we know the community will make great use of it!

Recoloring

Nearly all cosmetics are recolorable, and it's the perfect way to give things a unique look! We're putting a lot of love into making these assets, so we want them to be as versatile as possible.

If you wanted to make a white-striped sweater yellow to match your hat, that's now easily done! Do your Ears not match the Skin you're wearing? That can now be changed!

In rare cases, recoloring will be disabled for items with special shaders and appearances. You will still be able to "retint" many items that are not designed to support the recoloring feature. This means a green shirt may look brown when recolored to red. However, we're putting great effort into updating our existing assets to work more accurately with the feature.

Swatches

Texture Swatches are another way we're allowing you to customize items! These are optional, alternate appearances for assets. We were quite excited about this feature because it means multiple icons for the same model don't waste space in your Craftbook. Who wants to see five different t-shirts in their inventory just to change their pattern and graphics? Not us! So, we've consolidated it into one menu using the Design Tool.

You might want a cotton sweater to look more like a chunky knit, or a t-shirt to show different graphics, patterns, or fabric types. Swatches do exactly that - and each Swatch can usually be recolored, too!

This is only a glimpse into the amazing work our team is doing for the Wardrobe. We're having tons of fun setting up Stuffy's styling options and giving players a way to express themselves through their Stuffies. We consider the Wardrobe almost like a game of its own inside Restitched, so we're passionate about making it the best it can be.

We can't wait to show you more later on! Let us know what you think about this new feature, and give us some ideas for how you'd like to see it used!

This is really well done. Nothing in the clip is rough around the edges. The amount of flair Stuffy does during customization is a perfect amount imo. THE UI is so good. I love the SFXs when you hover and click, or even glide over options. Its really satisfying. I like how tabs in general, it slides over to show that you've hovered over it. Unique tab areas have their own version of it. I think that's perfect. Seeing/hearing the UI gives a good vibe and does not sound out of place. Little things like this really add to the immersion of the game. Especially, when players might be spending hours in that room ( :P )
